Wednesday, Dec. 26 Essex County Patch storm-related accidents, road closures and delays

Notified About

  • 1 Maplewood Avenue Maplewood NJ - Maplewood
I was disappointed to hear that the Maplewood town council had considered a ban on leaf blowers but then backed down. They say that they want a green town -- here is their chance to do something. Get rid of these noisy, polluting, dust-blowing nuisances! Rakes work just fine, don't use any gasoline, don't pollute, and make almost no noise!
  • Glen Ave Millburn - Millburn
The new speed humps along the south border of South Mountain reservation are too high. The speed limit is 25 and I think that was reasonable. I can also see why they were put in, to stop people from cruising across the intersection at 35 or more and not letting people in. But you can't take the humps at any more than 15. This is a waste of brakes and gas and will accumulate exhaust in those areas.
  • Dodd Street West Orange, NJ - Orange
Not only are there huge dips in the road, but there's an orange cone marking a pothole that would wreck the car, and now some of the roadbed is exposed near Washington Street and Dodd Street intersection. When will this be repaired? We have been driving on the road in these conditions for years... literally years!
  • 138 Bloomfield Ave Nutley, NJ 07110, USA - Nutley
Potholes start from Plymonth Rd/Bloomfield ave to Centre St. Numerous potholes
  • down trees Archived
Runnymede Road west caldwell, new jersey - West Caldwell
It's been how long since the storm? Three weeks? Well by looks of Runnymede Road in W. Caldwell, it looks as if it happened yesturday without a truck in sight to clean up the ruins. This is a busy street with children walking to and from school, which puts them at risk of getting hit by a car that is simply just trying to pull out of their driveway to go to work. This is a disgrace!
  • 372-498 Main St Belleville, NJ 07109, USA - Belleville

Going North at this light on Main st,
the road is narrow but wide enough for 2 small cars. So you have 2 car lanes trying to go straight and then try to merge immediately after the light.

There are no markers on the road so it seems it is a one lane road by design.

Better to have better road marking and signs at this intersection.

690-704 Bloomfield Ave Bloomfield, NJ 07003, USA - Glen Ridge
Right lane on Bloomfield Avenue westbound in Bloomfield just shy of Glen Ridge town line has been riddled with bumps and potholes for a very long time.
  • John F Kennedy Dr N Bloomfield, NJ 07003, USA - Bloomfield
The on and off ramps to the GSP at 148 are attrocious; Every time I pass through the area I have to slow down to about 5 MPH and the car behind me nearly rear ends me. Be extra careful not to blow your tire out especially at night or during a rain storm. This is one of the most heavily travelled exits on the GSP - either Bloomfield or the Parkway Authority needs to step up and fix this problem.
  • 257 Audley St South Orange, NJ 07079, USA - South Orange
There is a catch-basin that is not working properly and is causing water to back up into properties on 257 & 261 Audley St. The DPW in South Ornage has been contacted yet it has not been resolved. A DPW employee came out last week to look at the catch basin, but it has not been cleared.
  • Big potholes Archived
168 Alexander Ave Montclair, NJ 07043, USA - Montclair

On Norwood Ave southbound at Alexander Ave. You have to keep left when making a right turn to avoid breaking an axle.

This issue was reported (and fixed) within the last 12 months, but obviously not fixed very well.

  • Bowdoin St maplewood, nj - Maplewood
It seems many side streets are very dark, with street lights out. I've noticed this particularly in the College Hill neighborhood in Maplewood. Very noticeable on Halloween.
  • 49-67 James St Montclair, NJ 07042, USA - Montclair
Thanks to negligence or oversight from administration at Montclair High School, James Street enjoys an endless stream of students crowding the road, often unyielding to traffic, and a daily deposit of trash and litter. Be ready to dodge students and lunches alike from 11:30am to 2pm on any school day! Note: Last year's addition of a trash bin at the top of james st helped quite a bit! If only they would put it back and add 2 more at James Street's intersections!
