    Driving to work on Thursday morning, I was surprised to find multiple cars being pulled over on both sides of 14th street by a very rude female traffic officer. It clearly appeared that the MPD traffic officers were pulling as many people over to administer for dubious "violations" in order to fill their quota due to the impending government shutdown. I was fined for a "seat belt regulation" for no reason. I was simply told to pull over and was fined $50. When asked to hand over my registration and proof of insurance, I was told that the printout of the online registration was invalid and that I should be fined $500, despite having an up-to-date and valid registration and insurance policy printout. Currently, USAA emails the insurance policy card. However, I was told this would be a $500 fine. When I asked why I was being fined for a "seat belt regulation" when I in fact had my seat belt on, I was told "Just answer me this, do you want me to fine you $500 in addition?" I felt like I was being treated like an innocent person in a place like Sudan or the Congo, where people are stopped routinely by "officers" for "fines" just to line their pockets. Perhaps I am assuming too much, but when 5 other cars are stopped at the same time during rush hour on a busy street in the midst of a looming government shutdown, the actions of these officers are suspect. Furthermore, their blatantly rude behavior (one officer looking on just laughed at the situation) is appalling.

    New "no parking" sign on the Southeast side of Florida Ave. NW, across from Champlain is confusing. Can you or can't you park there? Tickets are given out only by certain parking officials. Please put out clear signage.

    A large street grate covers one of the city's many underground utilities near the sidewalk. The hole, like many of the city's, is full of standing water and the water is teeming with mosquito larvae. Neighborhood efforts to wipe out mosquitoes will be useless unless the city gets on board. I'm sure this problem is not limited to this hole and this neighborhood.

    I see a lot of people riding bicycles on pedestrian sidewalks in Adams Morgan, sometimes at high speeds. This poses a danger to pedestrians. I witnessed a bicycle striking an elderly pedestrian at the bus stop on 16th St a few months ago. As she fell, I saw her head strike the concrete. Despite her assurances that she was okay, she was bleeding profusely from her head and we called an ambulance to checked her out. The issue is not a lack of bike lanes. Bikers often ignore the bike lane, preferring to ride on the sidewalk. What can be done about this?

    While waiting for the pedestrian signal, almost every weekday morning I will see 2-4 cars either block the box or outright run the red light heading south on 16th St, which causes considerable backups for the gross traffic on Park, and forces school children and other pedestrians into the traffic lane while crossing the street.

    Hard to see in the picture, but both female DC Government employees were talking on their cell phones. One while driving the street sweeper vehicle on 14th street which if I know my laws correctly, is illegal to talk on the cell phone and drive.

    I live in Adams Morgan and I love it but what I don't love is the parking. I barely drive my car but when I do, depending on the time and day of the week I am frustrated by the parking situation. I have a joke that is actually sad. I have a curfew on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, must be home by 8pm if I'm driving. Why? Because there is no parking available. The signs say zone 1 parking but others can park up to 2 hrs most of the day until late evening. But then I walk over to Columbia Heights and they have signs on one side of the street that only allow those with zone 1 parking permits to park there at all times. This is what's needed in Adams Morgan. I don't understand why this hasn't been implemented. Also, if you are wondering why I don't just pay for a monthly parking space, well first off there aren't any available to pay for and if there were it would cost around $200/month which is nuts.
    I would like to see an only zone 1 parking at all times in adams morgan. I pay my taxes and parking permit so why do I have to go through this. Most the time I end up parking illegally which results in me having a $30 ticket in my own neighborhood.

    The Duddington apartment house next door leaves trash outside and it attracts the rats. I have huge rat holes in the yard.

    There is a large rat population in the alley between the 1400 blocks of Oak and Meridian streets. They have created burrows or piles in our back yard area and I believe under our neighbor's back porch at 1412. Anything that can be done will help

    There is almost universal jaywalking because the pedestrian signals are completely mis-timed at every side of this intersection, resulting in "no walk" signals for long periods of time during which it's safe to walk because the cross-traffic has a red light. After months of being trained not to trust the lights, many people no longer check them at all.
