I got routed onto WB VanWinkle Expressway at 1300 E, when my intention was to turn east. There were no signs warning of the reroute. This traffic diversion with no signage at rush hour is unacceptable.
The shoulders of the roadway are dirty with debris and lumps of sand an inch deep. I have noticed this problem for more than the last 30 days. From 400 South to 600 North and really it's really dirty on all of I-15 North of 3300 South. But particularly bad from 400 south to 600 North.
This is a hazard as emergency vehicles and citizens with emergencies have to dodge debris on the shoulders when they pull over to change a tire, when they are in a crash etc. South of 4500 South on I-15 is always so clean and you rarely see debris or sand on the shoulders of the roadway. I see UDOT Sweepers out weekly cleaning the shoulders of the roadway in that area. Call if you have any questions 801 968-1808
About 9 or 10 mast lights are out (and have been for months) around the bridge from I-80 WB to SR-201 WB. Visibility is poor. There was a crash this morning on the bridge and I didn't see it until I was almost right on top of it. Three or four cars were involved and it was difficult to see. This is a dangerous situation.
The intersection where I-15 NB and SB feeds into I-80 West and the off ramp to State Street is very poorly designed. There are 3 lanes of weave merging followed closely by the off ramp. Traffic exiting for State Street Southbound often gets backed up all the way to the high speed freeway lanes because people do not know how to use the merge lane for the right turn at the bottom of the ramp. I have two suggestions: 1) Mark the center lane at the bottom of the ramp for left, straight, and *right* instead of left and straight only. This will help SB State St. traffic move more quickly. 2) Post a sign somewhere before the weave merge lanes for I-15 SB / I-80 EB lanes that approach from the north advising through traffic to use left lanes. This would give the weave lane traffic more room to maneuver so they don't have to slow down as much. Many drivers are not very skilled at weave merging procedures.
Debris, nails, screws etc scattered throughout this section especially on sides of road. Recieved flat tire the other day and witnessed another vehicle in exact same area blow a tire. This needs to be cleaned up asap!
