  • Citywide Malden, Massachusetts - Malden Ward 1
The city should enforce laws requiring people parked on streets from parking to far from curbs. The city could and should be held liable if emergency vehicles cannot get through an area because of cars parked to far away from curbs. From what I saw yesterday this is a citywide problem. Please enforce parking laws across the city and ticket/tow these vehicles that are parked in the middle of many of our streets. The city should not be expected to clear to the curb for residents, the owners of the cars should shovel spots for themselves just as people with driveways have to shovel. Seems as though many lazy entitled people have moved into the city.

Dear Mayor Christenson and Board of Health of Malden,
I’m reporting an environmental health issue an behalf of concerned residents from 260 Main Street Malden Mass.
Since spring 2019, our neighboring lot owned by National Grid has been constantly serving as a construction site and depository for excavated wastes. It’s understandable that this site is used for occasional temporary projects. However, due to their constant usage for many months and on, the noise and waste dusts pose long term health hazards to our residents here in especially to kids and elderly.
The excavated wastes are often stored here and the moved away before new wastes come again.
My son has developed coughing for over a month. According to his pediatrician, it’s not cold related but due to irritation from environments.
As a community we are very concerned about the long term impact on our health. Please look into this matter as soon as possible so that we can have it addressed.
    Thank you so much!
    Sincerely yours
Residents from Uptown Condo at 260 Main St Malden.

Just FYI, the motorcycle has been especially active in our area this morning, and the driver has increased the level of noise.
  • Wigglesworth Street Malden, Massachusetts - Malden Ward 1
There is trash all over Bell Rock park, and it continues to accumulate because the city removed the trash bins and never replaced them. Every other public park seems to have trash bins for people's litter so why is this park an exception? The trash is blowing into neighboring yards during windy/rainy days. Please replace the trash bins and perhaps add a recycling bin - Malden forces its residents to use special trash bags to support its recycling program yet doesn't have a recycling bin in a highly visited public park?

This non working traffic light is directly putting babies, bicyclist and pedestrians at risk! Urgent change is needed as accident is just waiting to happen.
    (1) the walk button doesn't work. You have to wait multiple cycles of traffic lights changes to finally get a walk sign which doesn't last 3 seconds. I've seen pedestrians and bikers dance with cars to risk crossing the intersection during green as they can't wait for walk sign which never appears.
    (2) Main st and Madison st and areas are heavy (growing) residential neighborhood with children. They all cross this intersection to get to the T and/or Malden center.
    (3) Cars coming in from Charles and turning right into Main are extremely aggressive. Even on rare occasion of walk sign working, cars tend to bully their way to turn right. Pedestrians including folks with stroller w babies have to be extremely careful. There needs to be a "no turn on Red" here and police vigilance. Money can be made here from those violators.

It feels like to have the traffic flowing, the authority is risking pedestrians lives. In fact when you do the math, there are more pedestrians in the street than inside the car. Hence this intersection needs to be solved! Happy to answer any questions you might have.

There is a cross walk which runs diagonally across Eastern and Main which really doesn't match the traffic light cycle. The walk comes on when the light indicates cars can proceed across Eastern. The whole thing is messed up. Please get someone to look at this as there have been some near misses.

The property at 26 Tufts St is being rented as an airbnb. There are numerous people coming and going from this home. In addition, numerous cars on the street have out of state license plates that are parked on the street. One car in particular from Colorado has been here for over 6 months. These cars are parked taking up two spots and cars of owners of homes on the street are unable to park. This is a small street and parking is difficult in the best of circumstances.

What is wrong with the person who left this here squarely in the middle of the sidewalk? Whoever did it should lose their membership. If Limebike is at all serious about respecting the rights of pedestrians, and especially the disabled and our senior citizens, they will. It's bike no. 157-451. So it should be easy for Limebike to hold the user accountable. But they won't (prove me wrong, Limebike). If Limebike wants to be a part of this community, they and their users need to start acting like responsible members of it.
