Notified About

  • Boylston Street Malden, Massachusetts - Malden Ward 7

I live on the corners of Boylston and Henry. I have a daughter and we cross that cross walk daily. We are just on the opposite side of a large ball field park and walk path. I can sit on my front stairs and watch 7 out of 10 car will not stop at this 3 way intersection. Please let's be proactive not reactive people will roll to the stop and never stop at times we need an unmarked cruiser to watch this area when they redid the streets I suggested that we do one of those streets that are raised now that the good weather is back kids are all over the area bikes scooters playing running it is just a matter of time till one gets hit or another accident happens please show some concern for our children

    Thanks

I really think the animal control needs to be patrolling the area of Lincoln Park, Bryant and Cross Streets and Harvard and Henry Streets. There is dog crap everywhere! It is all over the sidewalks and at every tree. It is not generated from a small dog! It's disgusting!!!

Please note: this inquiry is NOT intended for Limebike. Please do not reassign to Limebike. It is intended for the City. Thank you.

On May 29, I posted about the multitude of Limebikes being ridden on city sidewalks and endangering pedestrians, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities (issue 5934124). Limebike responded by saying that state law does not prohibit riding bicycles on sidewalks except in central business districts, and that Malden does not have any ordinance that goes further. In other words: We can ride our bikes (which are motorized, by the way) on your sidewalks and you can't stop us.

From the City, I would like to know:

    1. Is Limebike's reading of our ordinances correct?

    2. If so, what defines our central business district, and what is being done to enforce the law and protect pedestrians in that area?

    3. Also if so, and most importantly, what is Malden doing about the problem? Limebike appears to be taking advatage of a gap in our ordinances and overall planning scheme to allow its users to operate its motorized bicycles on our sidewalks. That may be great for Limebike and its users. But it's terrible for the city and the vast majority of its residents. So we need an ordinance (like most cities and towns have). I suspect that you would find near universal support for the proposition that adults should not be riding bicycles on sidewalks, which are intended for pedestrians, anywhere in the city. (The lack of suitable streets for riding bicycles is a separate problem that also needs to be addressed -- but not at the expense of pedestrians). Even short of an ordinance, it seems that the city can negotiate whatever terms it wants with this company, and that common sense dictates that a restriction against operating these motorized bicycles on sidewalks should be a part of the deal. So again, does the city acknowledge the existence of the problem and intend to address it?

  • Centre St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 7
There is a crosswalk to get across Centre street toward Holden, via the Malden High School, students and pedestrians push the cross walk button to cross and cross when the lights turn red, I have seen several people blow this light and nearly hit pedestrians at all hours of the day. Often times only one person will cross, but once that individual has crossed they blow the red light regardless. No police is ever present here, people have to aggressively cross in fear of being hit by a car.

  • 133 Harvard Street Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 7
In front of 133 and 129 harvard street. Multiple huge mounds of dog feces which ultimately signifies is from a very large dog...... on another wise beautiful walk in a sunny morning it disgusts me to see it all including in sidewalk and front lawns.... do we need to install security cameras along our streets? How do we deal with this prevalent problem? I walk dogs and would not think of not cleaning up after them!! Please please please! So disgusting and disgusted!!
  • 216 Ferry St Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 7
oil is being allowed for years to washout into our streets. EPA rules require proper drainage with oil water separator for shops. why is this location still being allowed to pollute our neighborhood? old owner and now the new one.

We have lived in Malden, on our street, in this very same house FOR OVER 30 YEARS! NEVER in all that time have we EVER experienced what is going on here now! WE ARE IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY HERE! RODENTS ARE TAKING OVER! WHAT THE
HE🏒🏒 IS GOING ON??!! SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO ADDRESS THIS HEALTH HAZARD!

Obviously, current measures to control the rodent population here in Malden, ARE FAILING TERRIBLY! We MUST come up with a better solution to this problem! Every time I turn around someone else is posting yet another ClickFix requesting pickup! This morning I had to submit one myself! However the situation is being handled it must be looked at AGAIN. *** THIS CITY IS INFESTED WITH RODENTS! *** Time to GET SERIOUS and put and end to this problem once and for all!
