I am beyond confused with the hydrant flushing going on now for weeks. Originally we were told it was an emergency and you did not have time to notify us. Then you schedule and notify us (thank you) two consecutive days, then the next week once and now instead of the weekend you are doing it again during the week. Now you advise us that there is no harm from the water that comes out brown (or sometimes doesn't come out at all) and you advise to flush until it runs clear. You make it sound like this is a two minute process. IT IS NOT. It takes my water a few hours to clear, which is a problem on a work morning! Also the first time you did it, my toilet broke and I had to hire a plumber to fix. Additionally I am running the water for hours each time. Can I receive credit on my water bill, can I be reimbursed for the repair. I was referred to your legal department for an answer to this question but did not receive a return call. Actually the most important question I have is that you are advising us that this is routine so the water will be clean and cold. I have lived here 20 years and I have never woken up to no water or no water and rusty water, so I am not so convinced this is a routine process. I don't ever remember in the 20 years it having been done. Can you PLEASE tell me what is the problem with the water because I am very concerned. Thank you. I am sure I am not the only one in Malden that wants to know what is going on. Thank you again.

This was originally reported 6/20/18 with absolutely no action by any city officials. The sidewalk on the Bryant St side is ripped up, not barricaded off causing a dangerous condition for pedestrians and part of the sidewalk is being used to store construction materials with no fence of barricades

A lot of people have been inquiring about the hydrant flushing issue. I in fact posted the following and never received a response. I copied and pasted the full thread because as you will see it was reassigned three times and then still having not received an explanation, it was not even closed out just has a comment saying no cmments can be made. Here is the post

You are probably right GaryGuttaGo. Clearly something is going on. Also we receive pamphlets now and then telling us about the lead content in the water because of the "very old" pipes. I guess it's cheaper to send the pamphlet that covers the city, but it doesn't do much for the citizens

There are really two issues here: 1. What is going on with the water supply? Given our lead infrastructure (resulting in the highest lead levels in the state), discolored water is an issue that should concern residents and city officials. And citizens deserve prompt and honest answers regarding any questions having to do with the water supply. The behavior of our city officials is EXACTLY what has resulted in extremely serious problems in other communities around the nation. 2. Why are city officials being allowed to so blatantly lie without any accountability? These misrepresentations only further undermine public confidence in city government, and in this case, the safety of the water supply. Would you trust anyone to protect your safety who treated your legitimate concerns this way -- as if you are unworthy of an answer? Our mayor ran on a platform centered on transparency. He has delivered nothing of the sort.

Mr. DeSantis can we please have an explanation or answer to the questions asked in the original post in this thread. Why flushing never necessary before, why five times, what is wrong?, what about the costs incurred by property owners. Actually I would ask you to read all the questions in the original post and address each one. Many of us have asked on many different occasions and received nothing or at least nothing that rings true or makes any sense. Please do not refer us to city site because the explanation there does not ring true. Thank you

WHY are we not receiving a response when we inquire about this hydrant flushing issue. I am forced to repost the same question. From what I see the buck has been passed from Constituent Services to Water Department to Engineering and still no answer

Space savers - the snow storm ended 4+ days ago and space savers are still out . This person didn't even shovel out the space they just drive over the snow . The recycling bin that has been out since Friday had been replaced by a broken chair which is going to end up broken even more and the pieces will remain in the gutter until spring when street sweeping begins again or I sweep them up . Time to do away with these once and for all .

70 Boylston Street AGAIN! Litter all out in front of house and blown into street and onto Henry Street. Neighbors are tired of picking up after these people. Mask, gloves, and take out food all over the place daily!

Rodents, Mouse, rats infestation has increased with increased activity on streets and digging holes. The city of malden needs to do something. Property damages have started to occur and people are exposed to virus. This could lead to lawsuit against city of malden if not taken care.

Garrick-Santo employees are still showing up to do work with no masks. Today they are working at a school in Malden-- not a single employee masked. It happens all the time.
