Notified About

  • 565 Chapel St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster Square
The bright sign that's supposed to protect pedestrians from being hit in the crosswalk has been destroyed. It's lying on the sidewalk, the sign park totally snapped off from the base - unable to stand again.
  • 200-298 Cove Place New Haven, Connecticut - East Shore
    hard to get to beach
  • 210 Willow St New Haven, CT 06511 - East Rock
Formerly a dry cleaning business, the building is in extremely unsafe condition: leaking roof, broken windows, rotting floor, rear door unsecured. There is old dry cleaning equipment, probably dry cleaning chemical contamination and waste, asbestos from a rusting boiler, and the building's foundation is rotten and open to the elements creating a rodent problem and allowing rainwater to enter and possibly contaminate groundwater and the surrounding soil with pollutants.
  • 199 Elm St New Haven, CT 06520 - Downtown
A mid-block crosswalk across Elm Street between High Street and College Street is the only realistic way to end jaywalking on Elm Street as far as I can tell.
  • 688 Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven, CT - Fair Haven Heights
This woman has far too many dogs confined to her tiny apartment. She is breeding these animals and selling the puppies out of a box on the corner of Quinnipiac and Grand.
  • 103 Bishop St New Haven, CT 06511 - Bishop-Hine
I often see, or hear, the big blue and white Yale school bus flying up Bishop Street with the pedal to the medal. The bus screams by, both in speed and sound, revving its engine flying up to Orange Street as if it was heading to YNHH with someone in labor. If a child or person who'd been drinking too much happened to wander into the road, ferget it! Two points for that driver. I tried to tell a cop who was parked on Bishop when I got home tonight, but no one was in the cruiser at the time. I think NHPD oughta park themselves with a speed detector and ticket whoever's racing up and down our streets.
  • 49-87 Union Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
Behind the small dog area of the Union Street Dog Park, behind the concrete wall in the back, there is an incredible amount of trash, old clothes, garbage, liquor bottles, and a medium-sized tent set up. Someone either is living there, or has lived there for a long time in the past. This photo is taken from above, looking over the wall.
  • Crosswalk needed Acknowledged
279 Front St New Haven, CT 06513 - Chatham Square
A crosswalk is needed for the northern corner of the Pine St/Front St intersection to allow for safe access for children and families to the pedestrian gate of the Waucoma Yacht Club. Currently a dangerous curve on Front Street leaves families with young children dodging speeding traffic to access the pedestrian gate. The road was redone without this crosswalk being striped. There is currently no visual cue for the motorist that people are crossing. Summer boating season makes this a serious issue as more and more people access the club.
  • 66 Union Ave New Haven, CT 06519 - Hill

Racks are full, greatly discouraging local residents from cycling to the station. This causes an increase in traffic and is not very equitable, considering that the state subsidizes parking garage construction to the tune of $50,000 to $100,000 per space.

Also, for commuters, there needs to be a major increase in the amount of storage that is secure and sheltered.

When will the DOT attend to this problem?

  • Mugging Archived
71 Court St New Haven, CT 06511 - Wooster Square
Someone was mugged at around 11:45 pm by two men, one on a bike and one on foot. We called police and it took 1/2 hour to respond. After they mugged someone, they recircled Olive. This street is too dark! We need more lights and more police presence in Wooster Square.
  • 777 Chapel St New Haven, CT 06510 - Town_Green
Downtown New Haven badly needs a fresh produce market. Market analysis backs up this claim. The developers of the Shartenberg tower have had trouble recruiting the likes of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to occupy retail space in the tower. Citizens need to get involved in persuading out-of-town retailers to consider this space (i.e., Fairway in NYC). Interested grocers should contact the City of New Haven Economic Development Office.

  • Drugs Archived
690-692 Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Fair Haven Heights
The Blue House behind Grand Vin is selling drugs. The particular person(s) are an African American male and a white female that share the apartment. If you see suspected drug activity please call the NHPD as often as necessary. They are often seen walking in the area with a white and brown pit bull. They and their business are not welcome in this neighborhood. The male was involved in a stolen vehicular accident on Quinnipiac Avenue on July 9 where a reported handgun was suspected of being tossed.
