many potholes along route, also 1st speed bump on Staniford Rd (from North Ave.) appears gouged out,
  • 517-605 North Avenue Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
Due to all the potholes in the southbound lane between the 127 & the high school, combined with cars not following the actual radius of the turn, the bike lanes have completely worn away from car traffic over the winter. Please repaint ASAP, there is a lot of extra tourist bike traffic currently because of the detour, increasing the chances that somebody is going to get hurt.

There is a crosswalk, but pedestrians never seem to have the right-of-way and there isn't an electric walk signal. This creates a very dangerous situation as you basically always have to jaywalk across the crosswalk. Please give a gap between greenlights so that pedestrians can cross and give us a signal.

298 S Winooski Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Northbound bike lane is reduced to foot-wide section. Bikes are forced to drive on double yellow against traffic.
Note: Sending a sidewalk plow down the bike lane at this stage is way too late and will achieve very little, because of the amount of snow and ice. This needs a big plow and should have been addressed during the parking ban(s).
  • 156 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
This section of the bike lane is very dangerous because there is no icon indicating that it is a Bike Lane. Also the alignment shifts bikers far to the right which creates confusion among drivers and greatly increases the likelihood of a right hook collision in which bikers are hurt or killed. The sloppiness of the paint job indicates that even Public Works employees are confused by this poorly designed intersection. I suggest that the existing markings be removed and that a safe, properly aligned stripe be put in. It is also essential that one or more bike lane signs be included in the design. Otherwise this will continue to be a very dangerous corner.

Yet another needless bike path closure the kind of which the realignment was meant to prevent...
  • 79-83 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
The bike lane striping along N. Winooski Ave has all but disappeared. Drivers are (understandably) driving along the bike lane because there is no indication that they shouldn't do so. Please re-stripe the bike lane and return a sense of safety to cyclists. Thanks!

Cross walk goes 'walk' at the same time west-east traffic light goes 'green'. Tons of pedestrians try to cross and only one or two cars make it out of College street. Takes many light cycles to move cars, plus pedestrians are frustrated because cars are trying to get through.

Easy solution for this intersection: have all lights go RED once every few minutes and have all crosswalks go 'walk' for 20-30 seconds. Then back to cars. Rinse, repeat.. Everyone is happy.

    Public works please take action!

  • 279 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
This sort of sloppy work should never be tolerated in a city that prioritizes safety. The bike lanes are currently unsafe because of faded striping and inadequate signage. Let's get it right this year or replace the folks who keep getting it wrong.
  • 21 South Willard Burlington, Vermont - Burlington Electric
A safe pedestrian detour would be extremely easy to design and implement here. Instead a complete blockage has been maintained for weeks. There is currently no signage whatsoever at the nearby corners. Children are literally squeezing between the construction dumpster and Rte. 7 traffic. Public Works, where are you on this?

Days after the storm many bike lanes in the city remain unsafe and/or unridable. Please plow down to the asphalt and over to the curb before this build up becomes intractable ice sheets like last year...

People will ride their bikes in the winter, but not if the infrastructure is not maintained...

  • 1-53 S Union St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The low curbs along Union have been damaged by another winter of plowing. Many are missing, plenty more are damaged and only partially attached. Flexposts are also missing and/or damaged for much of the length of Union. Some (as pictured) present an immediate danger and should be fixed or removed ASAP. Ideally this whole lane needs to be rebuilt to the original specifications because after not getting repaired last summer, there really isn't much physical protection left for people who bike in this lane.
