Notified About

  • 700 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, North Carolina - Glenwood-Brooklyn
This building recently had 2 signs installed in the front windows. The signs are digital displays that rotate advertisements, flash and I think show short video clips. They're very large (almost the size of the whole window) and seem like they might be in violation of the sign ordinance. I understand why it's a great place to advertise as there are lots of people always waiting at the light on both streets, but also feel that it's probably very distracting to drivers who already have a lot to think about at a very busy intersection. I don't know if a single business occupies the buildling or if the owner is just renting out the windows for advertising.
Any info on if this is allowable would be great. Thanks!

Just after 3:00 on school days when Daniels Middle School student's head home. Some of the students who walk home need to cross Glenwood Avenue at St. Mary's and Anderson Street intersections. The existing crosswalk signals do not give adequate time to cross Glenwood Avenue. Not only that many of the streets at this intersection do not have any Pedestrian signal. More pedestrian crosswalk signals need to be added, the existing ones need the timing changed so they give more time for students to cross and all the pedestrian crosswalks need to be coordinated in order to provide a safe environment for these students to walk home. With more limited WCPSS bus service, more students are walking home. Let's get this busy intersection fixed by making it more pedestrian friendly before someone gets hurt. Concerned Daniels Middle School parent.
  • 3301 Atlantic Avenue Raleigh, North Carolina - Glenwood-Brooklyn
The grass at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Bramer drive is so tall that you cannot see upcoming traffic that is approaching up the hill. This is a school intersection with many parents dropping off kids and school buses.
  • 2414 Paula Street Raleigh, NC - Five Points
The Luc Lounge(hip hop/strip club) formerly the Bodi Club has moved to 2414 Paula st which is located approx.75 yards from our neighborhood. Reading archived comments from residents that had to put up with this club when it was located downtown makes me wonder how the city can let a club with so many violations including a couple of homicides move in so close to a neighborhood of kids, working families, home owners etc. We,as a neighborhood already have history with the one nightclub located on Paula st.The el tucanazo bar. History as in,loud music til 2.30 am,gun shots, screaming and yelling patrons of the bar. 2 city council meetings,3 court dates, several citations and yet we still hear the El tucanazo music every night. Now...The Luc Lounge moves in a few doors down and open for business 10.00pm to 6.00 am 7 days a week . That means no sleep for me or some of my neighbors. An officer was at my house just lastnite and told me that the Luc lounge has already had 55 call complaintsl as of June 1st. 55 calls and the city let's this go on? When are the city officials going to start looking out for the residents and home owners of Raleigh and stop putting these law breaking club owners ahead of them? The loud music til 6.00am,gun shots, yelling patrons, loud music from the cars they drive, etc, the entire issue has to be a addressed for the health and well being of the citizens of Raleigh.
  • 1700 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, North Carolina - Five Points
When traveling in either direction on Glenwood Avenue, it is extremely unsafe to make a left turn onto either Whitaker Mill Road, or Fairview Road. Drivers who attempt to turn left on the solid green light (not the green arrow) cannot see far enough ahead to know if the intersection is clear. This intersection is confusing enough without this added safety concern. I've seen many accidents here and was in one myself when I tried to turn left here. If you don't turn left on the solid green, the drivers behind you will get angry and try to drive around you, which is even more dangerous. The addition of a No Left Turn arrow on this traffic signal would solve this problem. I can't believe that hasn't been done already!

Hi-can the City please help with the issues at this house??? The plumbing project in the front yard has shown no progress since May, when the pile of dirt blocking the sidewalk was finally moved (after months). There is a porta potty there (for a few months now), half blocking the sidewalk and it smells, so effectively IS blocking the sidewalk. Is the porta potty substituting for a bathroom because the owner will not repair the house's water line in from the street? Wouldn't that make this house uninhabitable? Can the certificate of occupancy be suspended or something? Oh and also, the usual standing complaint about the permanent roofing tarps. And a new addition of a stove in the side yard. Thanks, City.

The owner if this house was moved to a nursing home 6or 7 years ago and the house has been vacant since then. Neighbors have reported snakes and rats. The heirs do nothing to maintain the house. I can't imagine what the inside is like. Apparently food was left on counters and in fridge. Thanks

Cars travel at a very high rate of speed at all times NB & SB on Fairview Ave, from Glenwood Ave. to Bickett Ave.
During school times (AM & PM) we are in need of speed limit enforcement at a minimum.
I recommend lowering speed limits at all times to 25 MPH... 15 during school commute.
Signage & Radius should be expanded.
This is a tragedy waiting to happen.

  • 522-528 West Peace Street Raleigh, NC - Five Points
Why doesn't the City just prohibit tractor trailers from using Peace Street? There's yet another truck that has smashed into the bridge.
