I'm a Princeton resident who runs in town almost every day. I have tripped and fallen hard, scraping my knees and hands badly twice now, the second time being today (before the snow started) on the strip of Nassau between Moore Street and Thomas Sweet. The sidewalk here is incredibly uneven and patchy. There are many other issues for runners in this town (drivers do not look out for pedestrians when turning, and speed through the dangerous intersection at the top of Mercer especially) but this is the biggest issue in terms of injury that I've faced. Thanks for your attention to it.
  • Princeton Battlefield Princeton, New Jersey - Princeton
This may have been reported already - but without the correct location of the dead deer? On the Northbound lane of Mercer Road to the right just after the pedestrian crosswalk for the Princeton Battlefield is a dead deer likely struck by traffic?

Washington Rd., as it runs through Princeton’s campus, needs to be (at least) striped and ideally have a painted bike lane. There is sufficient space between where cars drive and the curb (as seen in the provided video still) and there is empirical evidence that most drivers will stay within the painted lines. Narrowing this space on the street would slow cars, greatly enhancing pedestrian safety in an area with highly used pedestrian crosswalks.

Doing this would also create a safe space for cyclists. As is seen in the video still, many cyclists ride on the sidewalk here, despite the presence of sharrows. Providing a painted lane would get more cyclists off the sidewalk, as it would create a space more respected by cars.

Ideally, Washington Rd would have a hardened bike lane in this available space. It would slow cars, thus protecting pedestrians, and greatly benefit cyclists. I would recommend a raised cycle track be considered (see this from NACTO: https://nacto.org/publication/urban-bikeway-design-guide/cycle-tracks/raised-cycle-tracks)

The Parking Princeton application on my iPhone has been working fine for a few weeks. But the last two times I have used it, it is if I am starting from scratch having to have a pin sent to me and then entering my credit card and license plate information. Twice. I don’t have time for this.

a large section of the street (Meadowbrook Drive) in front of our home is badly damaged --- the pavement is pock-marked and uneven, and the top level of asphalt has degenerated, producing loose pieces of asphalt that present a risk for bicyclers (youth and adult), and a neighborhood eyesore. We would request patching or re-paving as soon as possible. Please call us if you have any questions. Thank you, Jeff and Tracy Orleans, 107 Meadowbrook Drive, Princeton 08540 -- 609-921-2628
  • Paul Robeson Pl Princeton 08540, United States - Princeton

Very unsafe encounter this morning using the pedestrian crosswalk at the Paul Robeson, Bayard, and Hodge intersection. I had the right of way and was crossing Paul Robeson north to south.

A person driving an SUV failed to yield while making a left hand turn, from Bayard onto Robeson (coming from the north). Due to the speed of the oncoming traffic from the south, we accelerated at high speed (while in conversation with a passenger in the vehicle). Upon seeing me in the crosswalk, she slammed on the brakes. Seeing the oncoming traffic she grew panicked. Luckily there was enough space for her to pass in front of me.

This is Princeton’s most dangerous intersection for a reason (measured by vehicle crashes). The municipality cannot wait until the full Hamilton-Wiggins-Robeson project to fix this intersection. It is dangerous now and requires immediate attention. There may he lost cost measures that can quickly installed to slow turning vehicle speeds, including sidewalk extensions for the pedestrian refuge and a basic hardened center-line turning treatment. Furthermore, this intersection should have 10 to 15 second dedicated pedestrian signal. Pedestrian fatalities were up 8% in NJ from 2018 to 2017, and are up 35% nationwide since 2009.

  • 2-48 Cherry Hill Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton

Several years ago, the Township Engineer promised to construct an asphalt sidewalk from the corner of Rt. 206 (State Rd.) and Cherry Hill Rd. along the southern side of Cherry Hill Rd. to provide a safe means of access to the property of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton (UUCP), a distance of about 125 ft. This would enable Princeton pedestrians and cyclists to access our church grounds safely, given that there are sidewalks on the eastern side of State Rd. and pedestrian traffic control devices at the intersection already.

Users of this sidewalk would include parents and attendees of the Cherry Hill Nursery School, members of our congregation, members of String of Pearls Jewish Congregation, and others who could access a trail into the Mountain Lakes Natural Area via our upper parking lot.
The Township start the project by relocating the guard rail away from the curb to beside the headwall, and the robust poison ivy has been cut back.
We had hoped to see this sidewalk installed last year at about the same time as sidewalks were constructed along the Great Road near Mountain Ave. But, alas, it did not happen then. Now that the improvements to the UUCP Building are nearly complete, we would greatly appreciate the construction of the sidewalk.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  • 51 Cleveland Lane Princeton, New Jersey - Princeton

Water collects and stands in a pool outside this house on the Library side of the fence after each rainfall. Insects breed and spread diseases. I have complained many times but no action seems to be taken by either the owner of Princeton department.

Further, the sidewalk has been broken up and not repaired.

Both problems are ongoing for months. Please do something!
