Alden Ave At Fountain St. New Haven, CT - Westville
The light that effects traffic and pedestrian movement for the intersection of Fountain St, Alden Ave, Harrison St. and Philip St. has been operating very slowly since the new lights were put in. It is not unusual for vehicles on Alden and Harrison to wait 3-5 minutes for the light to change even when there is not traffic on Fountain Street. I will also call the Transportation, Traffic, and Parking Dept. about this.
C/O Valley And Blake Streets New Haven, CT - Westville
There are many mornings, including today, where the traffic signal at Valley and Blake, coming from Valley onto Blake, has inconsistent cycling. The signal for traffic on Blake will cycle through from green to red, however when it turns red, it will cycle again for Blake, with the signal for Valley Street staying red. It backs up traffic well past Emerson Street. It also causes some of the more cavalier operators to run the red light, cut into traffic, etc. This does not happen every day which is also odd.
368 West Rock Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Westville
This blocks is, per signage, closed to through trucks. Can the police sit on the road and start enforcing this? Large box trucks and bigger come plowing up and down this block all times of day and night, disregarding the signs at the entrance to the block. As the auto traffic has increased on the block it is very narrow and the trucks frequently travel the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic.
Chapel Street (Between Central Ave & Yale Ave) New Haven, CT - Westville
It's that time of year again...The Yale fields are being used for lacrosse tournaments and the luxury suv driving parents of the lacrosse players are flying down Chapel Street like it's a highway. Vehicle after vehicle turns right off of Central Ave (once they realize Central Ave is closed for these events) and then floors the gas pedal to speed up to Yale Avenue. I was just out walking my dog and was startled by the roar of a dark gray BMW X5 accelerating as if he was on a highway entrance ramp. Where are the New Haven Police with a speed trap when we need them?
1246-1284 Forest Rd New Haven, CT 06515, USA - Westville
The new timing on the traffic light on Forest Road onto Fountain Street is too short, backing morning traffic up two blocks to West Elm. Something has definitely changed as this intersection, though busy, only recently began backing up this badly.
Yesterday morning, September 26, at 7:55 a.m. a school bus ignored the two-way stop sign at Yale Avenue and Central Avenue, causing my husband to stop suddenly, slide and fall to the ground injuring himself, our scooter, smashing his helmet, and has suffered temporary loss of memory. I am now out a deductible because he was unable to identify the bus as he was lying in the street injured. The bus DID NOT stop.
Often, cars pull up in front of the Westville Post Office to drop someone off or put something in the mailbox. From that position, they are past the traffic light facing east on Fountain Street, but they should be able to see the smaller light at the corner of Harrison and Fountain -- but that one is blocked by a tree from their position. As a result they often run a red light, creating a dangerous situation at an already tricky intersection.
8 kids riding through the neighborhood on bikes, the one without a bike knocked my son's friend off of my son's bike and took off with it. ENOUGH ALREADY! I've had two bikes and a scooter stolen in the last four weeks.
