Notified About

  • 21 Colvin Ave Albany, NY - Upper Washington Avenue

East side of Colvin from Chocolate Gecko to Lincoln Ave is not cleared. In front of Gecko, the sidewalk has been cleared with a plow headed in a northern direction, then stops at the corner of the building, hopelessly blocking the sidewalk.

Then mailboxes are snowed in, nobody can get to them without wading through knee high snow.

The sidewalk on the south side of Lincoln has also not been cleared.

Colvin Avenue from Lincoln to Central Ave is a mass of pot holes and torn pavement. It was recently repaved and is not a total mess, particularly around Armory Garage and the entrance to Hannaford.

Please prioritize repairing the multiple potholes on Colvin Ave. They are horrible and likely to cause an accident when drivers are stopping or going around to avoid them.
  • Van Buren St. Albany, New York - Upper Washington Avenue
Corner of Washington Ave. and Van Buren St., cars often park right near the end of the road on Van Buren St., making it difficult and dangers as you are pulling out onto Washington. Can a "no parking here to corner" sign be put up?

This doesn't seem like an issue to contact police with but let me put it out there for helpful comment from others. I enjoy living in a quiet neighborhood and conducted a good amount of research in that area prior to buying my house in Albany. There are new renters in the neighborhood for whom we have contacted the police for loud music. After about 4 calls they got the message and are no longer doing that. However, it seems to have escaped them that they live in a quiet neighborhood and that they are the only ones yelling and shouting as a form of communication. Granted it's often children but I know plenty of well-behaved children who don't shout and scream constantly. The adults will let this continue mostly with periodic "parenting" in the form of yelling back, swearing, and audible slapping/spanking, which then results in screaming AND crying. The occupants also made it loudly known what they thought about us calling the police about the music. I don't how they knew who called unless they were guessing or the police told them. (Which would be a separate bothersome issue.) In any case, I don't want to be the "chronic complainer" who calls the police on people playing in their rented backyard, but aren't homeowners entitled to peaceful weekends in our backyards as well? It's a beautiful day and I came inside because it's just too distracting to try to sit on my deck and enjoy a book. Is there no advantage to being a taxpayer in these kinds of situations? How are others handling such situations?
