I have lived in Fairhaven for more than 20 years and I would like to see the area kept clean. I will also report other areas in the city that need repair.
I hope that the public works dept has filled the pot holes out on Legion Ave.
151 Clinton Ave New Haven, CT 06513 - Chatham SquareA bike lane is needed between the existing Clinton Ave. and Orange Street bike lanes. If you agree click, "I want this fixed too” and comment. Pictures welcomed. We especially want to hear from folks currently biking from Chatham Square Neighborhood to any place north of the Green or beyond. Come on people we can get this! Here is one proposed route:
Clinton Avenue New Haven, CT - Chatham SquareThis young man was popping wheelies down Peck Street and then kicked my car as he went by.
Chatham Square New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham SquareI thought maybe I had become a curmudgeon, but after speaking with other friends and neighbors in the Chatham Square neighborhood, it's clear I'm not the only one who's sick of the ice cream truck. I don't know what the truck looks like, because I was afraid I would confront the driver (and not nicely) if I bothered to go out and check, but there is an ice cream truck that not only drives around with music blaring, but also has that horrible recorded "Hello!" bellowing well past 9:30 p.m. many nights, including weeknights. I make my children go to bed at 9:00 p.m., and I don't make it much longer, so this is a major annoyance, to say the least. All of my other friends who are parents find this after hours ice cream truck ridiculous and annoying, too. Is there some sort of noise ordinance against this? I would hate to egg the ice cream man, but I'm getting really close to doing it!
68-94 Pine Street New Haven, Connecticut - Chatham SquareDirt bikes all over Clifton, Atwater, and Front Street this afternoon. Yes, we have legislation in Hartford to increase 20 fold the fee for reclaiming confiscated dirtbikes. But still no word on increased e ffort by NHPD to crack down on dirtbikes. Seems they are operating without impunity. Would be nice if NHPD said something publicly (hello Chief Esserman?) about the situation. Frustration building....
Chatham Square Park New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham Square
I took a walk through our park this morning with my daughter. As I was walking along, I noticed that over half a dozen trees in the park have been hacked up, possibly killing them!
These trees have had a lot of time invested in them through the Greenspace program, URI, the School of Forestry, and neighborhood groups through planting them and taking care of them. They shade our park in the summer and make it a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.
And now some two bit hack (or group of said hacks) comes along and takes a shovel to the trees?! Do they know that the life of a tree flows through the bark? What is the point of killing our beautiful trees?
Some of the trees have obviously been just planted while others have been in the park for years and are quite well established.
What can we do about this?! Please New Haven Police, patrol this park at night! I have talked to the guys that hang out in the park during the day, as well as some neighbors who I saw about and none of them seem to know who is behind this.
I love my neighborhood very much but sometimes it seems to do nothing but want to self-destruct. I just don't get it.
155/153 Lombard St New Haven, Connecticut - Chatham Square
The issues are blight and vermin. 155/153 Lombard St has absentee landlords who are allowing their property to deteriorate. Racoons and squirrels have been seen coming in and out of the house, where they have built nests, causing health and safety issues. The shingles are falling off the house making it not only unsightly, but attracting vermin to make nests.
These issues are reducing the value of my home and the properties of owner occupied single and multifamily homes as well as any absentee landlord who might be taking good care of their properties.
I work with Chatham Square Neighborhood Association, and am on the EDC of said organization. Several members of this organization and I have formed Fair Haven Forward. We are trying to make this neighborhood one where people will want to come visit, shop, live and work. But houses like this will keep good people away. Tenants and home buyers will look elsewhere. I know I wish I did! But I was told this problem was being resolved. Instead it has gotten worse.
Maltby And Grafton New Haven, CT - Chatham SquareThese two, at it again, pulling wheelies up and down Maltby and Clinton
Clinton Ave. @ Lombard St. New Haven, Connecticut - Chatham Square
They are slowly creeping back up. *This* red and white bike (if not the very one, one very similar to it with similar logo) out today Sat. 7/13/13 in Fair Haven. 4PM on. Small rider (5',6"); could not tell what he looks like because was wearing full mask in 80+ degree weather.
Dirt bike followed by entourage including black scooter with two riders, and small "moped" style beige scooter with one rider.
Chatham Square Park Center New Haven, Connecticut - Chatham Square
CONTINUAL DRUG DISTRIBUTING, (DEALING) & BUYING TRAFFIC BUY THE REGULARS THAT SIT ON BENCHES ALLDAY LONG & ALL NIGHT, CUSTOMERS PARK INFRONT OF RESIDENTS HOMES, & DEALERS COME TO CARS FROM THE PARK CENTER HIDING BEHIND THE OVERGROWN PARK SHURBS.
THIS IS A CONTINUAL YEARLY PROBLEM IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, POLICE LOCK UP THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED & THE SAME RETURN.
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!
56 Pine St New Haven, CT - Chatham SquareThe house on the Southwest corner of Pine and Perkins St has become a drug house again (and I don't think it is pot). There is a pretty good deal of traffic there every day; the exchange of money and drugs is right in the open. Shouldn't be hard to see it in action and shut it down.
Grafton Street & Pine Alley New Haven, CT 06513, USA - Chatham SquareSTREETS NOT PLOWED ON GRAFTON ST. EVEN NUMBER SIDE FOR TENANTS TO PARK THEIR CARS LET ALONE WALK ON STREET AT THE CHATHAM PARK.
149 Clinton Ave New Haven, CT - Chatham SquareThere was a shooting 2 doors down from my house tonight. Police are camped out all over (which I can appreciate) However, they have been increasingly rude and unhelpful. As a freaked out mother who leaves to go to the store I do not expect to be yelled out when I try and return to my home. And told I can't drive my car back to my house "cuz I'm here an I ain't leaving" If you want us on your side then behave like good citizens and be polite and respectful, I didn't commit a crime and should not be treated as such.
