Notified About

  • 2922-2954 Chestnut St Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA - Cobbs Creek

This is a very dangerous stretch of road for cyclists because the bike lane and right turn lane intersect. I bike it daily and have seen two accidents and numerous near accidents between bicyclists and motorists. Last week my husband's rib was broken when he was struck by a car while biking here. When we returned to the scene to look at it several days later, we found another biker rolling on the ground after having just been hit by a car.

    1) Flashing lights and signs are needed here
    2) bright plastic road dividers should be installed, to limit the area that cars are able to move into the bike lane
    3) and/or more permanent bike lane dividers should be installed to protect cyclists

Thank you for consideration and assistance.

this is the main pickup for Bolt Bus service. The buses are there often and often idling!
  • 6300-3400 Chestnut St Philadelphia, PA - Cobbs Creek
Chestnut St is the quickest, most direct route into Center City but its also one of the more dangerous roads to bike on. As Chestnut St is a main thoroughfare for cars and buses travelling east from West Philly, a bikelane would do wonders to ensure a safer ride for cyclists travelling to Center City.
  • 5400 Cedar Ave Philadelphia, PA - Cobbs Creek
This corner property has been abandoned for several years. It is a place that is being used for illegal dumping and crime. It is an eyesore and a drag on the rest of the adjacent blocks of well maintained properties. Absentee owner has not taken any steps for several years to rectify the issue.
  • Traffic Cop Needed Acknowledged
John F Kennedy Blvd & Market St Intersection - Philadelphia PA 19104, USA - Cobbs Creek
There is chronic traffic congestion at this intersection during rush hour, mostly due to antisocial jockeying behavior on the part of motorists.
  • 5600 Cedar Ave Philadelphia, PA - Cobbs Creek
site of church that was demolished two years ago but now the area of several acres is an eyesore overgrown with weeds and trash
  • 4127 Chestnut St Philadelphia, PA 19104 - Cobbs Creek
Something serious needs to be done to calm traffic on this section of Chestnut. It is out of control. The lack of bikeability and speeding hurts the economy of the area, reduces property values and also endangers pedestrians.
  • 5801 Addison Street Philadelphia, PA - Cobbs Creek
There was once a row home @ 5801 Addison Street; it is now a vacant lot filled with trash, tires and other debris along with overgrown weeds.
  • 3292 Chestnut St Philadelphia, PA 19104 - Cobbs Creek
There are two large pot holes in the bike lane on chestnut at this intersection. One is before you cross 33rd and one is after. When there is a lot of car traffic they are impossible to avoid, so go slowly.
  • 100 S 44th St Philadelphia Pa 19104 - Cobbs Creek
The bike lane between Powelton Ave and Walnut St on 44th St is very faded. You can just barely see it, and drivers often treat this street as two lanes, blocking the bike lane. The whole street is in bad shape, but even some stripes painted on it would make a big difference. It's very difficult to navigate on a bike during rush hour.
  • 3730 Spruce St Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA - Cobbs Creek

Twice over the past three days I saw a police van parked in the bike lane (marked a no-stopping zone) in front of the Wawa on Spruce at the intersection with 38th, the SE corner. In both instances there were spaces a few yards ahead in the legal parking/loading zone area.

This is a tricky intersection to bike through to the east, with the bike lane in front of the Wawa frequently blocked (the no stopping-zone apparently not enforced), shunting bicycle riders into the car lane. It is generally frustrating that the police do not enforce this no stopping zone, and incredibly galling that we twice saw an officer himself breaking the law and ignoring other illegal parking.

On December 31st, 2010 at about 12:30pm the van # was 2502. We saw an officer get out of the van and enter the Wawa. At the same time, three cars were parked in front of the van, in the no-stopping zone in the bike lane. There were spaces in the legal parking/loading zone ahead, and the officer did not seem to be in any kind of hurry. We parked in the loading zone, ran into the UPS store for a few minutes, and the van was still there when we came out (and there was still space to park in the loading zone).

Today, on January 2nd, 2011, at about 10:45am we saw another police van, # 1901, in the same situation - parked in the no-stopping zone in front of the Wawa, with cars in front also parked in the bike lane/no stopping zone.

  • 30th And Market Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Cobbs Creek
the station and it's surrounding area is almost inaccessible to bikes due to wall of raised side walks paired with no bike lanes and treacherous to pedestrians due to cars violating rights of way.
