It's that time of year again in Peat Meadow Park. Please reinstate the foot patrol officers as this was a huge defense against the drug dealers a d prostitutes. The drug dealers are getting more crafty as they are appearing early in the morning, white Ford Explorer CT Lic# 795-ZAO, and at night via a motor scooter. Husky male with tattoo on right side of neck just under his ear, coincidentally also dealing on East Grand Ave. Please call the non emergency number if you see these or other suspicious people.

Is this house museum open at all? The New Haven Historical Society website has no information on it and web searches produce very little information except that it was renovated last summer. There should be information posted on the city's website and on the New Haven Historical City's website.

Since spring, if not earlier, cars and motorcycles have been speeding down Townsend. I've noticed that many of them start basically racing when they reach this intersection. This is a problem for so many reasons: 1. many children and pets live in this neighborhood, and truly their lives are in danger; 2. many houses are near the street, and at the speeds these cars are driving, they could drive into houses; 3. the speeding cars could hit the many cars parked along the street; 4. the sounds from these cars are very loud, and they regularly wake my baby at night. I am so tired of this that I'm thinking about moving. We could use speed bumps, a speed sensor and sign, or some police officers giving tickets for a few weeks every once in a while. Please help!

Be very careful crossing the tracks on your bike. Go slow and cross perpendicular to the rails. Signage is desperately needed. See http://groups.yahoo.com/group/elmcitycycling/message/8023

On Sunday I rescued yet another abandoned female Pitbull that recently gave birth left stranded in Peat Meadow Park without tags. This is the second one within 14 months. I have been tipped off by one person in the area who has not given me positive ID or address. Once I get a positive address, I will inform the police with hopes of your swift arrest and rescue of these dogs. Residents of Peat Meadow Park please Be aware of anyone in this neighborhood who is breeding pitbulls for sale. If you would like to remain anonymous, I completely understand but please let the police know who this is. These dogs deserve another chance to be loved by humans.

New garage tenants running an Illegal garage to fix motorcycles and cars in the garage and in the street. Dollies being used to jack up cars in the street and engine hoists being used to remove engines from cars out in the street. Engine fluids being dumped into the street, sewer and garbage. Tons of garbage barrels put out on trash day.

Motorcycles coming in by the dozens on the weekends and drag racing in the area (check the surrounding streets and you will see numerous motorcycle skid marks). This must be shut down and put to a stop immediately! Elderly residents are fed up with this nonsense.

A group of dedicated and hard-working neighbors and historians, as well as volunteers from all over the state have been working very hard with very little no support from the City, our local aldermen, Dept of Public Works, or any governmental agency for that matter to clean up and take back this park in order to restore it to it's rightful historical significance. We have had several cleanups and all we have asked from the city is that they pick up the brush and wood, trash, etc. It took my wife weeks to get someone to pick up the trash. It was finally done. We have been waiting well over a month for a 'work order' to be executed in order to pick up the brush, leaves, and trees we have neatly piled in the park from out last cleanup effort.
We are planning an event in conjunction with National Trails Day on June 1st to thank the volunteers with a picnic and continue the cleanup efforts. Right now all we are asking is that we get the last cleanup wood picked up and the upper park mowed for the event on June 1st . It saddens me that I see large crews all over the city mulching, raking, planting, etc. and all we are asking that the residual wood be picked up so that we can continue our efforts and show our armey of volunteers that someone besides our core group in the City of New Haven cares. It has largely been through personal effort that the park is cleaned, ridden of late night parties, daily drug deals, and social miscreants. At great personal risk to our property as well as our physical being.
We would like for the City to stand with us, not continue to be a spectator. Someone please respond!

apartment complex owners are renting out illegal basement apartment. there's water and black mold issues that landlord neglects to disclose to perspective tenants. there is only one entrance to the illegal apartment. there are no egress windows in bedrooms, if there's a fire there's only one exit in front of apartment. also apartment complex is not handicapped compliant or accessible. deck stairs are too steep and not to code. there are a few handicapped individuals here and have brought this to landlord's attention and he outright refuses to fix any problems. landlord will not allow handicapped tenants to install safety bars in bathrooms. landlord will not even provide handicapped parking spaces.
housing inspectors need to come and inspect all apartments for health and code violations, there are many in both complexes.
