Pothole ArchivedMain Street Hartford, Connecticut - DowntownPlease fix main streets horrible potholes! These are located in the north end and south end, for some odd reason downtown main street has perfect roads with minimal potholes and its like the city doesn't care about the north and south ends road conditions, maybe because people mainly work there and visit downtowns attractions? This isn't fair to the north and south end residents! There isn't any exact addresses because its the whole part of both ends. They have only been filled with tar making the roads more uneven and bumpy with tiny rocks flying up hitting your car as you pass over the filled holes! I've had my car in for repairs because of this issue and ended up cracking my motor resulting in having to buy a new car among other repairs such as alignments, cracked oil pan and my windshield even cracked from impact. Please assess these two areas carefully and ppave, not just fill the holes!

MDC neglect of property Archived441-471 Main St Hartford, Connecticut - DowntownGrass was ripped up and replaced with gravel. Trees out front were neglected until they died, were finally removed but never replaced. Poster advertising "coming soon" improvements is years old and false advertising. This property is in a centrally located area and reflects poorly on the city.

Unreadable map on lower level ArchivedUnion Place Hartford, CT - Downtown
There is an unreadable, unusable map on the lower, main level of Union Station. The image is so pixelated you can't read street names.
A couple friends rode the train up from New Haven last weekend and reported this. I've also seen it in person. They came to Hartford to go to the Twain house and had to orient themselves with absolutely no help from this terrible map.
You see stuff like this in the city and wonder whether anyone is actually serious about ever inviting other people to visit here. Having such a map in place sends a clear and obvious message to 'outsiders' that if you don't already know you're way around, why bother? If iQuilt signs are throughout the city, and it is about walking, then why not at Union Station? These friends, Brits, walked down Farmington to the Twain house with 0 help from the city's infrastructure. Nuts, and what a missed opportunity.

Pothole Archived131-177 Pearl Street Hartford, CT 06103, USA - DowntownThis is more like a pot in a hole. Looks like the cover cracked & came off of some kind of pipe. About 1 ft in diameter (see shoe in photo for reference ) and 6 inches deep, full of water & debris. A pedestrian as well as vehicle hazard.

Sidewalk Woes Acknowledged103 Allyn Street Hartford, CT - DowntownIn front of the angry bull saloon located in hartford on Allyn street there is a very large pothole on the sidewalk. Not only is this dangerous for pedestrians walking but to handicapped people in wheelchairs it proves treacherous to get through unscathed. I've noticed throughout the months, that even with all of the foot traffic located in this particular location there has been no safety measures put in place to prevent injury. I believe that with the summer months ahead, and more young people coming to this area it would be beneficial to the City of Hartford to address this issue.

HPA - Parking Related Signage Archived185 Asylum Street Hartford, Connecticut - DowntownEvery single day I see people paying for street parking after 6pm and hear people complaining about having to pay for parking in Hartford. I try to inform them its free after 6pm but the signs only state 2 hour parking 8pm-6pm so it 50-50 if they believe me. Also on the parking authority's websites it is doesn't clearly state that it is free. This is the only place i found that states it's free www.hartford.com/parking. Putting up signs or having the the Meters shut down at 6pm would solve this problem and encourage more people to come to the city. Also its just wrong to 'trick' people into paying for free parking.
