  • Speeders Archived
Ocean Ave West Haven, CT 06516 - West Haven
People race along the roads on Ocean Avenue in the summer - last year's speed traps helped, and we'd love to see them back again.
  • 593 Ocean Ave West Haven, CT - West Haven
There is a ton of garbage, both in the brush on the edges of the beach, and on the beach itself down at this end of West Haven's shoreline. All sorts of paper, plastic, and unmentionables. This is one small sample of a widespread issue.
  • 322-368 Ocean Avenue West Haven, Connecticut - West Haven
Back in April 2012, a citizen wrote to Gripe Vine regarding the lack of sidewalks "on either side of Ocean Avenue from Robert Street to Harding Street and it is very dangerous for adults and children walking". The response was that "we're in limbo at this point. If you don't see any activity on this site within a month, let me know and I will start from square one." That was over a year and a half ago, and there has been dead silence and no change. People with baby carriages, those who are in wheelchairs or otherwise require assistance walking, and anyone else who just wants to walk is forced to negotiate lumpy dirt/snow, walk through someone's yard, or walk on Ocean Avenue, where they will probably be hit by a speeding car. Why is it so hard for the City of West Haven to put in what amounts to approximately 100 feet of sidewalk? This complaint has been issued by many people over decades, yet nothing has been done.
  • Ocean Avenue West Haven, Connecticut - West Haven
Every year around the 4th of July, residents and visitors set off fireworks every night, sometimes for weeks. Most of the fireworks are illegal in CT, yet the Police do nothing to stop them. Dogs are traumatized by the explosions, people can't sleep (as the noise usually goes on until very late at night), and shoreline wildlife is severely disturbed. While I can understand the desire to celebrate, could the celebrations be limited to JULY 4TH ONLY? Also, the WH Police Dept. should be ticketing those with illegal fireworks.
  • Jones Hill Rd. - West Haven
There is a multifamily home where there is a marijuana factory and marijuana dealer...individual has already been arrested for this according to jud.ct.gov case detail.
  • 15 Annawon Ave west haven, ct - West Haven
He is a golden Boxer with a black spot on his face. He has white feet like socks. He is roughly 100 pounds but is a sweet, gentle, sometimes shy around new people. Please call 530 628 3426 if you find him
  • 523 Ocean Avenue West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven
I took this picture almost a month ago while out on a run. I know others have seen it too. It's unfortunate that residents ( or possibly someone out of town) don't follow the towns recycling program. This is besides the point. The television has been there and no town official or employee has cleaned this up. There must be some protocol for trash dumped in lots, parks, or beaches. One push and this television is in the Long Island sound.
  • 373-399 Ocean Ave West Haven, CT 06516, USA - West Haven

Despite having reported the issue to both AT&T (phone company) and UI (electric company) multiple times over the last 2 months, no one has been dispatched to trim back the tree that is growing through the phone, cable, and electric wires. You can hear the lines stress when the wind blows - this is a dangerous situation.

The pole is marked SNET 2727; I'll upload a photo of the pole marker, too.

  • Deed End Section Of Holcomb Street - West Haven
The homeowners blow their leaves off of their yard into the street while the rest of us bag them...so unfair.
  • 623 Ocean Ave West Haven, CT - West Haven

Sand is all but gone - down to the red and black sand, and erosion cutting into the banks above.

Check out the difference in the 'hybrid' map where there was lots of white sand. It's truly sad that one of West Haven's greatest resources has not been maintained.

  • mattress Archived
259 Ocean Avenue West Haven, CT - West Haven
There is a mattress blocking the sidewalk and sticking out into the street in front of 259 Ocean Avenue. Bulk trash pickup isn't for another month and the regular trash pick up has ignored the giant mattress. The City's website states that "fines up to $100 a day" will be imposed on bulk trash put out early, but a call to Public Works a week ago has produced no results.
  • 455 - 457 Ocean Avenue West Haven, CT - West Haven
There is a large pile of about 10 disintegrating leaf bags near 455 Ocean Avenue, though the yard waste appears to be from the corner residence on Scott Street. These bags have been sitting in plain view of residents and The City of West Haven for at least two months. In front of 457 Ocean Avenue, there is some debris that should only go out on bulk trash day, including a bright green bucket that is VERY easy to see, and has been there for at least two months. These residents continually put bulky items out and leave them for months on Ocean Avenue. Why doesn't the City ticket these people? No wonder we are still called "Waste Haven".
