Notified About

  • Vfw Parkway Brockton, MA - Ward 2
The Little Free Library lovingly built, installed, and maintained by volunteers was brutally vandalized and damaged. This was an intentional act. We have taken it back to our Steward for repairs. This is just a series of incidents in this area -- from the heron sculpture that was damaged, to feces smeared on our church steps, to our cars broken into during a night service. This is damaging the image of the city, and negatively impacting the will of the people to fight back. What specific action is the city taking to protect us from these atrocious acts?

The city playground located at the Davis school is disappointingly still not fixed. These children have to use a playground, after working very hard in school, that in my opinion is barely useable. The slide has a huge hole in it and instead of being fixed it was boarded up. The draw bridge was broken and has yet to be replaced along with some broken swings. In my opinion, we want to keep our children busy and having fun, not bored and causing trouble. The least you can do for our children is fix this city playground so it is useable for the kids during and after school hours. I do know that this is the second complaint about this playground.

DW Fields Park not opening on weekends and holidays till mid afternoon some days. Should be
Opened at 9am. This was a promise
    made by the
Park Department when the new head was appointed.

Vandals have destroyed one of the Little Free Libraries right near the City Hall in Brockton Mass. Unacceptable for this vicious attack on the volunteer citizens who are trying relentlessly to make Brockton a better place. Lights and perhaps more surveillance is necessary to help keep this city from more heartless, destructive acts.

Please address the issue of the park gates not being open in a timely matter for the use of the public. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheBrocktonHub/1108021015915739/?notif_t=group_activity Here is the general disappointment as reflected in the comments of one Brocktonian in the thread on social media: "The city has no interest. It was suppose to be a priority of the new Park Dept. guy when he was selected. What a shame. It sits locked up for a good part of the day on beautiful weekends. I give up with the City of Brockton."

I water the flowers in this park on a regular basis. Each time I pick up condoms, needles and other debris from illegal night-time activity. I am concerned a child using the playground will be injured by this debris. We need night-time patrol of this area, and perhaps motion-sensor lights and surveillance cameras. It would be a shame to lose this new playground to a small element bent on misusing it.

The Trash Transfer Station has returned to working in the wee hours of the morning, all morning. It is now 4 a.m. and it has been nonstop for hours. People who have to work are being deprived of sleep and those who don’t work are important as well. This HAS to stop. It’s been going on for years and we thought it was resolved.
    Thank you.
