Recurring garbage pickup issues Archived255 24th Avenue Southeast Saint Petersburg, Florida - Old Southeast Neighborhood AssociationI called in a couple weeks ago to report the garbage trucks speeding through the neighborhood, rudeness and garbage being spilled all over the streets. It’s not a once in a while issue. This has been happening since our former regular guy retired this year. We’ve NEVER had issues from him. Yet this new guy trashes our streets and we have gotten tired of cleaning up after him. By the time we clean up the streets again, the trash cans be half full! I’m sending pictures in this time to show it’s clearly not a few pieces of little paper that flew away in the wind. This guy is straight up CARELESS and SLOPPY! There is more in front of my neighbors house also. We would appreciate it if this problem STOPS as it is not our job to have to come and clean up after their carelessness. We keep our streets clean around here and don’t need anyone trashing them who should already be concerned with keeping them clean

Pedestrian Safety Archived4th Street And 18 Avenue South St Petersburg, Florida - Old Southeast Neighborhood AssociationThe crosswalk signal at 18th Avenue and 4th Street is inoperative on the east side almost all the time. It is a serious public safety hazard in that folks on the west side push the button, see their flasher working but when crossing the street may nearly be run down by oncoming traffic in the east lane because the signal is out, like my wife and I this morning. This has been reported before, and the signal has worked for a day or so, either because of luck or City action, probably the former as I am sure the City would have fixed it, if it observed it not working. Occasionally it still works for a few hours; I think when it is raining, but who knows? If City inspectors find it working, have them check it everyday until it doesn't. As an engineer, I know it is hard to fix something if it is working at the time you are there. Thanks for your assistance.
