Notified About

  • New Haven Green New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown
The New Haven Green smells heavily like urine and is littered with trash (including sharp glass fragments from many broken alcohol bottles, which is dangerous). It's embarrassing for the city to have our central square be in such a state, but more embarrassing that our inattention to the homeless is what causes it to be so. What is New Haven doing to help those who most need it and, in so doing, helping to preserve our public spaces?
  • 927 963 Chapel St New Haven, CT - Downtown
Homeless camped out on green. Public Health issue. Safety Issue for downtown residents and visitors
  • 301-347 College St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Downtown
The lovely green, New Haven's front lawn -- open for all to come and enjoy -- is almost always a littered mess.
I'm not saying we should arrest litters, but begin issuing tickets for littering. It's a small, quality-of-life step that can yield large results. Clean the Green, a small effort that can sow pride. We all -- even the thoughtless litterers -- feel better when the world around us isn't a filthy mess. And if the city won't crack down, we can do it ourselves; just carry a plastic grocery bag with you and pick up after you messy brothers and sisters when you get the chance. It's good exercise.
  • 181-193 York Street New Haven, Connecticut - Yale University Campus
Today, Thursday March 12 at 4:35pm a group of about 6-8 young men on dirtbikes rode West up Chapel street past the art museum and turned right onto York street heading toward Elm. They were weaving through traffic around cars and pedestrians. Complete disregard for traffic laws, red lights or safety. Maybe this is the year New Haven rids itself of the dirt bike epidemic?
  • 161 Temple Street New Haven, Connecticut - Town_Green
Currently bus riders can not see when the next bus is coming. Please add GPS tracking the buses as well as the ability to pay by credit card.
  • Chapel St And Church St Yale University, New Haven, CT 06510, USA - Downtown

People always ask me where the free shuttle goes. It would be easier to find if there was a green line painted in the street.

Trolley tracks make it easy to find trolleys. This could work the same way.

  • 289 Chapel Street new haven, ct - Dwight
The sidewalk and street in front of this metal dump is always dirty and full of nails, shrapnel and metal pieces making it very dangerous when biking. I have to bike in the middle of chapel street around that area causing cars to swerve around me and cross the double yellow lines. This company should be fined for littering and should clean up Chapel street around them. Finally, there are often illegally parked trucks and pickups on the sidewalk without proper lights or safety signs causing delays in traffic and danger to pedestrians.
  • 965-999 Chapel St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Town_Green
Traffic calming, like Ped refuge islands similar to those installed on Edwards St are needed before the next speeding driver flips his car and kills 20 people.
  • 344 College Street New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown

At the corner of Elm and College, there is a right turning lane that intersects with the bike lane. It is difficult for cars to see bikes as they turn, which has resulted in several accidents. Technically, both have the right of way here, so it is incredibly dangerous for both cyclists and drivers. Please fix this issue before more people get hurt.

Perhaps this could inspire a solution? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlApbxLz6pA

  • 143 Elm Street Yale University, New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Town_Green

The new bike lane going in on Elm St is on the right side of the street sharing space with the CT Transit Bus stop in the Green. Because of parking on the upper block, buses must cut across the bike lane to reach the stop and then swing wide into the bike lane to turn right on Temple. This is dangerous for cyclists! Bollards can't be installed because of the parking, which if removed could make way for a dedicated bus lane.

The right-hand side bike lane also prevents cyclists from safely turning left at Church or Orange, very popular routes to East Rock where many cyclists live. Bike boxes could help with this safety issue. Are there any planned?

Anyone have ideas on how to keep people safe on Elm St?

  • 250 Temple Street New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown
Intense and disturbing widespread squalor and filth throughout the New Haven Green. The garbage in effect makes the green an exclusive park for those who throw trash on the Green and for those who aren't bothered by all the trash. For the rest of us, although the Green purportedly ours, nobody else wants to go near such a dump. I'm sure there is no remedy for this sad mess except to fence it off to everyone. And that won't happen either.
