  • Potholes Archived
30-36 Winchester Ave New Haven Ct 06511 United States - Dixwell
This stretch of road is covered in potholes. Please repair. Cold patch does not stick - it needs to be dug up and patched.
  • 55 Lock Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
We came across a groundhog that was frantically wandering in the street near Yale Health. Apparently someone had stopped and taken its baby into a car, so it was confused and panicked. It is unlikely anything can be done, but we thought it worth posting to SCF that people should not take wild animals!
  • 39 Winchester Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
This car belongs to someone that clearly walks over to the Yale health building for work. It is never here in the weekends and they always park about 7:45a and are still there between 5:30-6:30pm. This has gone on for months. I'm sure this isn't the only car however its the most consistent violator.
  • Pavement Markings Acknowledged
95–99 Ashmun St New Haven 06511, United States - Dixwell
We could really use a crosswalk to move across Ashmun at Lock Street (see photo). Since the new colleges opened, there has been a big increase in foot traffic from this area heading toward the law school, Payne Whitney gym, Broadway shops, etc. Every day I watch dozens of pedestrians cross wherever they can find an opening in traffic. Would be much safer to just install a crosswalk
  • 2-16 Winchester Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
I have called both NH Transportation and NHPD to report that the stop sign that was at the corner of Winchester and Sachem has been removed. This needs to be corrected asap as it is a heavily used pedestrian crosswalk!
  • This Could Be... Acknowledged
88 Canal St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Monterey Place

    This Could Be Scantlebury Skateparklet.

    From the application to

"Our project is a skateboarding parklette built within Scantlebury Park, intended to use skateboarding to connect the New Haven residents with the Yale community in an equitable way. Historically, the two communities have been separated both physically and socially. In providing a new space at the apex of several New Haven neighborhoods and Yale’s campus, this project offers a new opportunity for these communities to come together. Moreover, it positions the communities as equals. The project would be a joint venture between Yale University (The Yale Undergraduate Skateboarding Union & Schwarzman Center) and citizens of New Haven and be developed by both Yale personnel and New Haven residents. "

"Our project requires approximately 4,000 square feet of unused city land on Scantlebury Park. In addition, we will require a contractor and/or designer with experience in skatepark design and construction. We are currently working to gain the assistance of one or more members of the Yale School of Architecture to collaborate and assist on our final park design.

Both the Scantlebury Park location and skateboarding culture hold unique potential for accomplishing our goals because they exist at the intersection of dynamic communities of place and of practice. The park is situated in Dixwell, one of the city’s more underserved neighborhoods, while also on the frontier of Yale’s campus. Culturally, skateboarding is the nucleus of a creative community that values design, painting, photography, film, music and entrepreneurship, along with athletic expression. Geographically and culturally, this project offers a community space with uncommonly low barriers to entry and many thereof. "

  • 153 Winchester Ave New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Dixwell
the signs they removed and put back are falling over.
  • 133 Goffe Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
The stoplight at the right turn onto Goffe. The left signal light's red bulb has burned out...the right one is still on.
  • 106 Mansfield St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dixwell
I'd like to apply for an "Obstruction Permit" to park a moving POD on Mansfield St, Zone 7. The size of the pod is only 7ftx7ftx8ft but will need a 40'x12'x15' (LxWxH) clearance. To whom do I send the permit application, given that the office of Transportation, Traffic, & Parking is closed indefinitely? I have filled out the form ( but don't know who to send it to. Thank you.
  • 43 Woodland Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
Just when I had hoped LCI had convinced the owners of 45 Woodland to stop storing or dumping garbage against the wall of my house, last night at 3:30 AM the people who came to remove snow piled 3 feet of it against the wall. I have already spent about $1100 repairing that wall from the damage caused when garbage cans, trash, and snow, create moisture that damages the cement blocks. PLEASE get them to stop!
  • Vacant Property On The Other Side Of 215 Winchester New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
Weeds five feet tall also an impediment to walking on the sidewalk
  • 18 Tilton Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell

Please, please, please re-pave Tilton St. in the next re-paving cycle. I hear the undersides of cars and vans scraping down this street all the time, and I have had to work out a specific weaving pattern to bike up and down the street so I'm not thrown off my bike.

Woodland was repaved this season (THANK YOU), and we would be so, so grateful if Tilton could be repaved next year.
