The sidewalk on the the side of Percival St. and Carmel st. is a total disaster. I have seen all types of people including the handicap in wheelchairs access the street to avoid this terrible sidewalk.
I have spoken to neighbors who complained in the past about this sidewalk and have got no answers from the City.
If the City of New Haven can take in refugees, give them shelter, food and love. The City should also should open its eyes & start taking care of its own communities that pay taxes to have good sidewalks and safe neighborhoods.
There has been icing on this road every year. I have seen countless vehicles get stuck here including school buses and plows. There needs to be regular salting in this area before someone hers really hurt here. It might actually be the fire hydrant that is on the corner because it has leaked heavily before.
There is a young tree with many shoots / suckers and low lying branches. The shoots (about 1" in diameter) are intertwined with many lateral branches, and both the shoots and branches are encroaching on the street. Additionally, some of the upper branches are thin, with less foliage than the rest of the tree. Please help to keep the tree happy / healthy, and to maintain the safety of cyclists and cars.
When you get a chance, can you please contact Jean from Edgewood Neighborhood Association regarding a tree in front of 808 Elm Street. She said the tree appears to be dead and is dropping limbs that’s damaging cars. She fears that a large branch is going to fall and hurt someone. Please assist!
