  • Encinal Basin Near Wind River Alameda, California - Alameda
Another boat has been docked in the Encinal Basin now for about a month. It is a larger white boat with what looks they took the top of a trailer and attached it to the boat . The boat also has a small dingy boat tied to the side of the large boat that they use to access land.
  • Encinal Basin Alameda, California - Alameda
This morning there were over 9 boats dumped in the Encinal Basin. The majority of these boats were towed into the basin by a man n a small dingy boat. In the last couple of years, this continues to be a problem causing garbage in the basin and people from the boats climb the ladder to chairs that they have chained to the fencing at the end of the basin , along with tables, and have gatherings there. So far two such boats have sunk in this basin causing the city to retrieve the boats at great cost but also as important leaving a large spill of oil and other damaging substances from when the boats sink. I don't understand why this continues to be allowed to this point. PLEASE use our harbor patrol boats and officers to take care of this matter before another boat sinks!

Neighborhood recycling thief has been trespassing on various properties to loot the recycling bins (and make a massive mess and a lot of noise in the process) for about a year now (possibly longer!) Have been reporting them weekly since April of 2018 but APD ignored it every time. I got so fed up with it that I decided to follow and record this person on video as they proceeded to trespass and steal from all the properties in my neighborhood, and eventually managed to flag down a couple APD officers who were driving through the area and got them to stop the thief. The thief is an elderly asian woman, possibly vietnamese, who typically wears a grey cap, blue jeans and grey sneakers. The thief usually uses a large three-wheeled cart to transport the stolen recyclables to whoever is paying them for them.

Officers apparently asked them to knock it off and I thought the issue was finally resolved, only to see this same person come back again the next weekend and continue trespassing and stealing from everyone's properties in the neighborhood.

There's also a handful of other thieves, possibly associates of this individual, who also like to go around trespassing on people's properties and digging through their bins. They usually hit various apartment complexes on central before proceeding northbound on Pearl street to hit more properties up that way. I am not sure what their full route is, but I know that they typically come around this area on Sundays and Mondays (although I've also occasionally seem them on a few other days), and usually either mid-morning or in the afternoon.

it is very frustrating that even after an entire year of thoroughly documenting the problem, diligently reporting it to APD every time it happens, the problem continues to persist totally unabated. APD needs to put an end to the weekly recycling theft and trespassing that they've allowed to continue with impunity for an entire year (and possibly longer).

  • 1223 Pacific Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
How is the process started for an intersection to become a four way stop? Another horrible accident today at our home of Sherman and Pacific.
It only has 2 stop signs and 1 unlit crosswalk, with people speeding down Sherman every day, it needs 4 stop signs and 2 crosswalks desperately.
In the time weve been here, going on 6 years, at least 10-12 really bad accidents have happened here needing police/paramedics. Today a woman's car got smashed into and spun around. She frantically ran to the back and pulled out 2 toddlers from the car, thank God they all seemed ok.
I know they turned Santa Clara and Sherman into a four way stop, we need one as well, especially this intersection feeding right into Little John Park.

  • 1561 5th Street Alameda, California - Alameda
1561 5th St ... This house recently vacated by elderly owner has become an attractant for dumping trash and worse. A few weeks ago, there were twelve police cars surrounding this same house when it was broken into. The property is directly across the street from a small market and there is daily smoking & littering by folks loitering on the front steps and up on the porch.

The empty lot and the area around it need a complete cleaning. There is trash, liquor bottles, surgical gloves and countless piles of dog poop. Some of it is on private property and some on public property. There is also graffiti on the property. The sidewalks are filthy. Is this the best that the City of Alameda can do? This hurts the neighborhood and local business.

Items previously reported and closed are still there.
  • 300 Wind River Way Alameda 94501, United States - Alameda
At Windriver there is a growing encampment with 12 chairs and a couch chained to the sea wall
  • 1526 Webster Street Alameda, California - Alameda
Someone put graffiti over the sidewalks signs along Webster Street that read, "No bike or skates." The sign are almost universally ignored and there is little to no enforcement, but the vandalism sends the wrong message.
