Alameda

Does our city council need to update its city ordinances to include homeless encampments and people living in their cars? It will become worse if we don't identify how to address this issue. We happily pay property taxes to keep up this great city. It would be a shame to let blight take over our sense of safety and property value. Maybe we need to empower our police force with training to get the job done.

There have been reports on this forum for months but the same encampments have not moved. Please educate me as I may have missed something.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my view. I've lived on the island for forty years and would hate to see Alameda turn into THE place for people living in their cars or in encampments.

I'm the Principal of Lincoln Middle School. Every day before and after school we see a half dozen or more cars make illegal U-Turns on San Jose. I'm requesting a patrol officer every once an while between 7:45 am to 8:15 am and between 2:50 pm and 3:10 pm.

These encampments continue to grow daily. 😱

The problem here is getting worse. please remove the camps.

There are three structures now. A tent under the overpass, another tent behind the Alameda sign and a new big hand made structure made out of scrap wood and black plastic tarp and garbage is piling up around It. It is starting to look like Oakland and it is only going to get worse.

Seems like the encampment is growing in numbers. What is being done currently? Is there legislation that isnt being written to help keep alameda from turning into oakland? Maybe this is the line forming to get into the yet to be built navigation center in alameda.

I originally reported this issue here: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/5512258 however it was fraudulently closed by Lieutenant Jeff Emmitt in order to sweep the issue under the rug, and then the site automatically archived it making it impossible for me to re-open or comment on the issue. Therefore I have to re-submit the same issue all over again (and will probably have to do this several more times since APD will probably just keep fake-closing it like they do all our other requests on this site):

constantly barking dog, german shepard left abandoned in back yard almost 24 hours a day every day. dog barks loudly at random times throughout day and night, including at odd hours of the night like 3 am. This morning has been barking sporadically since around 9 am (it is now 11:38 AM). This has happened so many times this past year that I've honestly lost count of how many nights of sleep ive lost because of this barking dog. Countless complaints made to the useless Alameda Animal Services but the animal control officer refuses to take action and wont accept video recordings of barking as proof. in other words, the dog has to be b arking at the exact moment that animal control officer arrives. if they stop for even 5 minutes, if the officer was there during that time they will write it off and not do anything about it. because of alameda's worthless and corrupt animal services protocol to refuse to accept video evidence of barking (which is normally accepted in virtually every other city in the us), the degenerate and irresponsible owner of this dog has been permitted to neglect their animal and cause a nuisance to the neighborhood by having it bark every day with total impunity for over a year straight.

As of Saturday, June 30th, 2019, the problem is still not resolved. APD and animal services have done absolutely nothing to abate the problem.

Boom cars - vehicles with high powered subwoofer systems, typically with lots of other assorted aftermarket modifications like 20+" wheels and illegal exhaust kits - are overrunning our peaceful island community here in Alameda. They regularly drive through various streets on the island (sometimes well in excess of the posted 25 MPH speed limit) blasting their vulgar loud rap music at the highest volume setting possible, vibrating nearby buildings and causing a major nuisance to residents across Alameda. This is in violation of both state law as well as local county ordinance. APD regularly allows these drivers to drive recklessly and cause major unnecessary noise pollution in our neighborhoods with total impunity right in front of them and refuse to ever stop and cite these drivers. Please start stopping and citing these reckless and loud vehicles. Me and thousands of other Alamedans are tired of the sanctity of our neighborhoods being violated by these loud and vulgar reckless vehicles coming into our peaceful community from Oakland.

Some vandal keeps going around tagging up various property all over Alameda, both private and public, with endorsements of Bernie Sanders. This unsolicited and unlawful political advertising needs to stop. So far he has marked up the entire marina village shopping center, with tags spanning across the entire complex all over the ground, parking spaces and various seating areas. They also tagged up park street, as I noticed when I was walking down Park from Central towards Buena Vista the other day, on the west side of Park there was a bunch of his Bernie Sanders tags as well. Please wipe out this person's annoying graffiti and also if you could please identify and cite them as well, it would be much appreciated. WE have enough blight in Alameda as it is, we don't need unsolicited advertising for some socialist jerk all over our streets on top of it.

Over the past couple weeks, there has been a tent set up with a bunch of other junk layed out next to it. This is at the intersection of webster and constitution way right outside the tube to get to Oakland.
