Notified About

  • 379 Edgewood Avenue New Haven, CT - Edgewood
On Tuesday the people in this house held a large, noisy, outdoor party. The music blasted till 10:00p, their cars were double-parked along the whole block, and next morning the sidewalk was littered with trash and garbage. Wednesday night exactly the same obnoxious behavior. Last night, ANOTHER party with music blasting from after lunch to midnight. Right now they're setting up for another gathering. I called the police each night but the noise picked up as soon as they were gone. And the police have more to worry about than quality of life. What can we do to stop this assault on the peace and quiet of the neighborhood?
  • Norton St New Haven, CT - Edgewood

When you see these teens, you might assume they are just a bunch of kids on their bikes. But they are actually street gangs. They have been observed "occupying space," urinating in the streets and on trees (this is, as I understand it, indecent exposure, and is punishable by law), fighting with others and each other, creating loud noise disturbances, and mugging people. Of course, this is only what some have observed, as street gangs are well known for their trafficking in drugs and people (aka "pimping").

I want serious discussion of a curfew in New Haven, and there is all of this talk about NHPD walking beats, but we never see any of them walking Beaver Hill. To be fair, I have seen police cars driving around from time to time, but we need the NHPD to start taking Beaver Hill seriously as a new ground for gang activity. This was once a beautiful neighborhood - it no longer is. Do not go on our past reputation - the residents have changed drastically over the past 2 years specifically, with our supposed "support" turning a blind eye.

Fellow residents of Beaver Hill, when you see these street gangs on bicycles, observe them. Report any illegal activity to the police immediately, and record your findings here as well.

  • 373 Edgewood Avenue New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Edgewood
    Public nuisance report number three:
We arrived home about an hour ago to find this week's party well underway! Half a dozen cars on the Edgewood mall. Music blasting in the back yards. I hesitate to call the police because last party they did not show up until 2 AM! Fat lot of good that does.
  • 34 Hudson Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
There is illegal dumping on this blighted property on Hudson Street. There is tons of trash including paint cans, mattresses, and loads of garbage bags.
  • 58 Pendleton Street New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
It seems there is some dead in the recycling bin at 58 Pendleton, plus some illegal leaf bags stuffed in the bin. Recycling came today, but did not empty that bin, perhaps for these reasons. They did say it was really heavy. It is sending a strong smell of death all down the block (and this at least the second day). Not sure what to do, but it needs attention of some kind. Whatever is in there needs to be disposed of safely.
  • 2-30 Pendleton Street New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Edgewood
Just a few yards along the footpath between Edgewood & the duck pond.
  • 64 Hubinger Street New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
There is often a group of men gathered with bikes on sidewalk (bikes parked on sidewalk =illlegal?) and active drug deals from only this house on Hubinger street! i think the house number is 75. please monitor this house, police!
  • Hubinger St New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
Multiple Dirt bikes and ATVs racing around the area of Edgewood Park. Bikes and ATV was trailered in. Black truck with trailer parked in front of 79 Hubinger St. Saw one ride past a police office sitting in his car and nothing was done. Saw car forced onto other side of street by bikes.
Went is somebody going to do something about this? I one of these kids gets hit or hits someone it will somehow end up the city's fault and us taxpayers will end up paying for the suit. Have the police surrendered to this? I'll bet that not one of these individuals pays any taxes in New Haven. The are being brought in on a trailer to terrorize the streets of New Haven and it seems nothing can be done.

Edgewood Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
Nuisance- quad bikes. these people are using Edgewood Ave. as a race track. They are not only disturbing the peace, but causing a traffic hazard. Police are called, but no response!!!
  • 147-177 Maple St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - Edgewood

A family on my block allows their three young children (between the ages of 6 and 12) practically free reign of the streets at night. I have witnessed these kids throwing rocks at cars, fighting, yelling, and screaming obscenities at one another. Tonight they were outside in the middle of the road (which is a fairly busy street), in the dark, hitting each other with shovels and yelling "I'll kill you." Kids having fun is one thing, but these kids are out of hand.

Not only is this a noise issue, but I am worried that one of these kids is going to get hit by a car. People speed down our street all the time.

I don't want to be rude or to make enemies with my neighbors, but I've lived here for three years now and these kids just get worse and more violent with each other every summer. Is there anything I can do about this? I called in a noise complaint once, but the police never showed.

  • 377 Ellsworth Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills
When is something going to be done about the superhighway that we call Ellsworth Ave? I've complained about this before. It's extremely dangerous to enter from a lane. I'm ready to move, and so are some others, if nothing is done.
  • 22-32 Blake Street New Haven, CT - Beaver Hills
Pedestrians crossing Blake Street on Whalley Avenue are taking their lives into their hands. Because of the angle Blake takes from Whalley the walking distance is great and cars traveling northwest on Whalley turn into Blake at high speed. Drivers rarely cede right of way to pedestrians. People I know won't cross Blake there at all preferring to detour. This intersection is ripe for traffic calming.
