Towing some but not others ArchivedDiamond Street New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver HillsIt is a street sweeping day. All tow trucks are out like hyenas. They are supposed to tow everyone that is parked on the street, correct? Then why do some cars, vans etc get picked up by tow trucks and then parked in driveways. Some unfortunate person needs to find their car gone and need to find a way to pay the ticket and the tow while others get the luxury of having their car, van parked for them. Cops are present and allow that. It is not fair for some and not others.

Dumping? or bulk pickup? Archived299-317 Edgewood Ave New Haven, CT - EdgewoodFor the fourth time in a year or so, I'm reporting a large pile of trash at this exact same location. I thought it was a repeat offender but now I see the last complaint was closed for me by LCI Watcher who reported the pile gone. Can anyone at LCI tell me if this is a regulation bulk pickup site? In which case I'll stop reporting new instances. But sometimes the piles linger there for weeks, which makes me think they are illegal dumping (maybe by the large apartment complex across the street). Is this a legitimate issue for me to report, or is it OK for these piles to sit there?

Policing Issue Archived1346 Ella Grasso Blvd New Haven, Connecticut - EdgewoodIllegal Sign Posted on telephone poll. It's ugly, it's distracting and it's on block where people still take pride in how it looks. This one should be easy to solve. Call the number and fine them. I'm sure there's even more around the city.

Health Dept. Archived378 Ellsworth Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Beaver HillsThere is an aggressive wild animal in the neighborhood, attacking people. Today a huge adult groundhog was digging in my yard, and my elderly neighbor went down the yard to see what is was, and threw something at it. Immediately, it rushed at her, she fell down, and it attacked her, biting her on the side. I rushed to try to chase it off, and it came after me. When I grabbed a big stick, I was able to stop it, but it still stood its ground and wanted to fight. When I reported this to the police, they said it is my problem and that I will have to contract personally with an exterminator to get rid of it at my expense. But this is not my personal problem. It's a community problem. When is it going to bite a child passing by? Does it have a disease, causing it to act aggressively. It does not "live" on my property. I think it has its main hole on my neighbor's property, but it crosses mine, and travels all over the neighborhood, even out to the street. This should be a city health problem.

Speeding Open300-399 Ellsworth Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver HillsEllsworth Ave between Whalley & Goffe used to be a quiet street but it has become a speedway with cars going 50-60 mph trying to make the green light at the end of this long block. It is extremely dangerous to pull my car out of the driveway, because, even if I've looked carefully each way, a car will come bolting out of nowhere. I've been very close to being side-impacted several times, like by inches. Can't the police install speed detectors across the street to stop this? I hate to suggest speed bumps, but it may have come to this.

Trash/Loitering Archived493 Winthrop Ave New Haven, CT - Beaver HillsThere is constant trash in front of this property and the trash cans are overflowing which has caused numerous squirrels to come & eat out of the trash. The trash also includes numerous weed bags & blunt wrappers and has to be picked up daily by the neighbors since the tenants have no desire to pick it up since they are the ones who put it there. There is also a HUGE loitering problem at this location even though there is a No Loitering sign clearly posted on the property and there is a standing no loitering order on file with the poilce dept. There is constant foot traffic going in & out of this property at all hours, suspected drug use & sales from second floor. This property is managed by Diamond Management which was formerly Apple Management and owned by some slumlords out of Florida who refuse to listen to the requests of the homeowners & neighbors living near this property who ask them to do something about the problem!
