Meadow Walk New Haven Connecticut - Fair Haven Heights
Last summer this issue with these people playing very loud music was reported here by someone else. It's the same issue again. https://seeclickfix.com/issues/2937077-policing-issue
They're at it again. It is 1:30 a.m. and it's so loud you can hear it all over the neighborhood from Foxon to Hemingway and a guy gets on a MC'ing mic which is ridiculously loud. They should have been told last year that they have to stop at 11:00 p.m.. Rock concerts are stopped at 11:00 in residential areas and it's why the Yale Bowl stopped having rock concerts many years ago. This is no different.
Aren't citations issued, especially for repeat offenders? If they had been told last year then they should know. We're not going to go through this all summer again. People deserve their sleep! Shutting windows doesn't help even as far away as I am, but it's also warm now and everyone doesn't have air conditioning. Either way what they're doing is wrong, inconsiderate and selfish. This is not a rare event such as two times per summer. This is often and it hasn't always been on just Saturday nights and I recall more than one night in row several times.
It's around some apartments between Foxon and Hemingway St on the right side headed south. I reported it to the police. Please enforce these issues. Some people do have to get up early in the morning.
Ferry St New Haven, Connecticut - Chatham SquareThe prostitution, drug sales & use of drugs has become highly visible along Ferry St. Especially Chapel St intersection through
Peck St. Toni Harp and the narcotics unit need to start riding by so you can see what's going on our streets so you can take action before we make national news again. The prostitutes and John's are coming in from the out skirts; we need to start exposing them, by arresting them and impounding their cars and posting the mug shots; maybe then they will think twice before coming to New Haven to do your dirt
41 Cold Spring St New Haven 06511, United States - East RockOverflowing trash cans in the pavilion area of East Rock Park’s College Woods. Animals are breaking into all the loose trash and spreading garbage all over the park. This is now happening EVERY weekend! I took this photo on Sunday morning, so the additional trash of an another entire day of weekend park visitors still needs to be accommodated. It’s a mockery of to all of us who work hard to keep our parks and public space clean. Our Youth at Work just spent all summer laboring to pick up trash in the park. Mayor Harp, Becky Bombero, what are you going to do to address this ongoing problem? The status quo is unsustainable and unacceptable.
Osborn Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver HillsThere is an abandoned gas station at the corner of Osborn Avenue and Blake. Neighbors have complained about this gas station for years and nothing is done about it. Now, it is full of leaves, garbage and someone sprayed graffiti all over it. It looks AWFUL and gives the neighborhood a bad feel. We are sick of this. This property either needs to be cleaned up or more importantly thrown down and maybe a nice park put in its place. We take pride in this neighborhood and this gas station just doesn't belong here.

This photo was not taken today and does not show the usual morning or late afternoon heavy vehicular traffic, but it does illustrate the intersection at Blake and Valley. On the right, is the Elm City Montessori School with a current preschool through elementary student population of approximately 270 kids. On the left is a surface parking lot that is often used as a cut-through by irate motorists who are frustrated by the frequent traffic back ups that occur here in the morning. Many of the students, including mine, walk to ECMS and cross this dangerous intersection at least twice a day. I have personally been hit three times over the past two years by vehicles piloted by drivers who either run the red light with the cross walk sign illuminated at this intersection or speed through the surface lot in their attempt to short cut the right turn from Valley to Blake. Thankfully, the incidents so far have been minor with no injuries beyond bruises and strained vocal cords. The recent addition of an illuminated "No Turn on Red" sign for those turning right from Blake to Valley has made a noticeable improvement. However, those coming from the opposite direction attempting to turn left from Blake to Valley, do not have an arrow, and often ignore the red light which endangers any pedestrians in the crosswalk. Similarly, those who use the surface lot as an auxiliary right turn lane, often do not watch for pedestrians on the sidewalk along Blake. My kids were almost hit this morning by someone speeding through the lot. I have witnessed near misses by other families crossing this intersection and have spoken to parents with similar concerns regarding the dangers here.
The convergence of significant vehicular and pedestrian traffic at this intersection, particularly in the mornings and late afternoons, warrants an immediate and comprehensive traffic engineering study by the City of New Haven. At a minimum, a left turn arrow for those vehicles turning left from Blake to Valley could be incorporated into the signalling system and would greatly reduce the danger to pedestrians at the crosswalk, as well as facilitate better and safer vehicular movement there. Removing the entry/exit and corresponding curb cut along Blake from the surface parking lot would regulate entry and exit to the lot from Valley Street and thus, eliminate the vehicular cut-through at that location. One could argue for a school crossing guard here, but I would contend that without the application of these two aforementioned basic changes to the intersection and parking lot, the underlying problems will continue to endanger those who use the crosswalks.
Apologies for the long-winded description, but these recommendations are reasonable and achievable. Immediate action needs to take place at the intersection of Blake Street and Valley road before we are faced with an avoidable tragedy.
2-90 Sheffield Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Prospect Hill
I am in wheel chair and I catch public transportation. Today, when I was trying to get on the bus, there was too much snow on the curb and the handicap access ramps on the curbs for the bus to be able to lower the handicap accessible ramp, for to be able to mount with my wheel chair. When the driver tried to lower the ramp, because of the snow, there was a gap of about an inch or so. This is very unsafe for me, as well as other citizens. Please address this immediately. My concern today was at the bus stop I was at; however, this is happening all over the city. There has to be a better and safer system, to protect all the city's citizens, in times of inclement weather.
Also, when it rains the water pulls at the end of the parking lot and drains into the bus stop. When the temperature is at freezing levels, this area turns into an ice rink. If I go over the curb to reach the bus, I can lose control of my wheel chair and slide directly into oncoming traffic.
543 George St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - West RiverThe rank smell on George street continues though the original request has been "closed" BUT NOT RESOLVED as everyone walking past the funeral home can tell you. To be clear, I am not placing blame on the funeral home but only pinpointing the EXACT location of the fecal stench that has been ongoing now, for 8 months. What's going on? If the lines were flushed last week and the construction on Dwight and George should not be causing the smell...can someone identify the cause and properly resolve the issue???????? PLEASE and THANK YOU!
Here is the initial thread:
87-105 Sachem Street New Haven, Connecticut - DixwellPlease bring back the STOP sign at corner of Winchester and Sachem. There is bicycle traffic entering and exiting the Farmington Canal Trail here, and the pedestrian crosswalk does not provide enough protection. Cars traveling from Winchester used to have to come to a full stop, now they barely slow down if there is no pedestrian in crosswalk. This creates unsafe conditions for bike cross-traffic.
687-701 State Street New Haven, Connecticut - Downtown
If you are biking North on State St, the I-91 North Entrance (near Goodfellas) is a nightmare. Because of the speed on that section, bikes should stay all the way to the right, but then have to cross over the turn lane which tends to be very busy. Becomes awkward and dangerous for both the drivers and cyclists.
Really needs some sort of green painted bike lane for bikes that (obviously) want to continue straight on State St, not turn onto the highway.
Ellsworth Ave & Goffe Ter New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Beaver HillsAm I the only one who is suffering property damage at the hands of the orthodox Lubavitch children on Ellsworth Avenue? They stomp down my little fence, they stomp on my garden, with deliberate menace. They jet down our sidewalks on their scooters and bikes, and they expect you to get out or their way. I have tried to have a conversation about this with the parents, but they deny everything, even when it happens if front of their eyes. No one apologizes. They blame it on Black children. I have been fighting this for two years now. I see other people have put up fences around the front of their property lately. Are they just targeting me because I complained, or is there more? I am about to go to the police with video documenting their actions. But I would like to have corroborating evidence, if possible. I'm not targeting a religion or an ethnicity, and I don't solicit comments from racist activists. These are the children and parents of one congregation. These parents need to discipline their children and teach them respect for other people's property and neighborhood.
