415 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - DowntownAbout 7:45 p.m. last night another pair of cars, yet again, fall victim to the green light on Trumbull and left turn arrow from I-91—stopping just short of the handicap ramp at the southeast corner of the intersection. No one was hurt only the cars were severely damaged.
This is the classic case of an accident waiting to happen.
Cannot we think our way out of this on-going situation and do something with the timing of the lights or put speed bumps on Trumbull Street (as recommended by the officer out there today)?
231 Orange St New Haven, CT 06510, USA - Town_GreenString of vehicle break-ins continues in 9th square, especially Orange St. Customers are becoming unwilling to park on street and businesses are losing foot traffic. Reports of over 40 break-ins this month should trigger higher security in this area at night. 6 occurred in one lot this past Saturday alone.
900 Chapel Street New Haven, Connecticut - Town_GreenVery strong odor inside the building, many residents believe it is a gas leak, no one appears to be responding
Whalley Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver HillsDriving southeast on Whalley, the lanes shift at the light just before West Rock Ave. There are no markings on the pavement for guidance, so cars in the middle lane often shift to the left lane. I've been forced into oncoming traffic multiple times. Painting the lanes in the intersection would be extremely helpful.
Yale Av New Haven, Connecticut - WestvilleEVERY DAY I PICK UP TRASH ACROSS FROM MY HOME ON YALE AV, TODAY IS THE LAST STRAW, DIRTY, DISGUSTING SLOVENLY, PEOPLE, HAVE BOWEL MOVEMENTS,AND WIPE THEIR BUTTS AND THROW THE RAGS, AND PAPERS ON THE STREET NEAR THE EDGEWOOD SCHOOL, THESE THINGS I WILL NOT PICK UP
2-90 Sheffield Ave New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Prospect Hill
I am in wheel chair and I catch public transportation. Today, when I was trying to get on the bus, there was too much snow on the curb and the handicap access ramps on the curbs for the bus to be able to lower the handicap accessible ramp, for to be able to mount with my wheel chair. When the driver tried to lower the ramp, because of the snow, there was a gap of about an inch or so. This is very unsafe for me, as well as other citizens. Please address this immediately. My concern today was at the bus stop I was at; however, this is happening all over the city. There has to be a better and safer system, to protect all the city's citizens, in times of inclement weather.
Also, when it rains the water pulls at the end of the parking lot and drains into the bus stop. When the temperature is at freezing levels, this area turns into an ice rink. If I go over the curb to reach the bus, I can lose control of my wheel chair and slide directly into oncoming traffic.
56 Hillhouse Ave New Haven 06511, United States - Prospect HillWhere are the in-street pedestrian crossing signs?
I watched a pedestrian stuck trying to cross Sachem at Hillhouse. No cars would stop for her - I actually had to stop traffic with my bicycle!
As I was cycling home through East Rock I wondered...where are all the in-street pedestrian crossing signs?
I don't see them anywhere.
As someone who remembers a time when they weren't allowed in New Haven, having the in-street pedestrian signs regularly, proactively installed is a small but important victory for all of us in the traffic safety community.
2-14 Church Street New Haven, Connecticut - Town_GreenOn Church St in the direction of the Green and right in front of the KofC Building, cars constantly pull over into the bike lane and stand, I guess in order to pick somebody up. This is a very busy road with lots of bike commuter traffic as well. When I swerve into traffic because of the car parked in the bike lane, several lanes of traffic are potentially impacted and I feel very vulnerable. I take this bike lane every day ~6, and I guess there is a car in the lane 50% of the time. This would be a great place to plan on ticketing violators!
140 Bradley Street New Haven, Connecticut - SOHU
Every night around 530-630PM lately, there are almost no spots available on the State Street side of Bradley. I'm not sure if this is due to the crowd at Dashi, people visiting the bike shop or the combination of the two but something seriously needs to be done.
Why are violators never ticketed? I don't even remember the last time I've seen cars with tickets on them. Residents on Bradley would all appreciate some CONSISTENT enforcement. Please.

49 Edwards New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
The street sweeping enforcers of New Haven say that they post their signs 48 hours in advance to warn residents about upcoming street sweeping/towing. They also say there is an alert that goes out. I know this because I moved here last month and learned by having my car towed.
This time, the no parking ban signs were posted LESS THAN 24 HOURS in advance.
I took a photo of my street in East Rock on Monday at 6:45 am (attached - note times the photos were taken), knowing that the opposite side would be cleaned Tuesday at the same time and signs should have been posted Sunday. When I went out that morning to confirm this, there were NO SIGNS POTED ANYWHERE.
If the city is going to tow and tag, then they need to uphold their timeline of posting the signs 48 hours in advance.
I also saw cars being towed from the street BEFORE the ban was in effect, at 6:45 am (no parking is for 7am-3pm).
New Haven street sweeping folks, what gives? Be consistent or stop ticketing and towing.
114 Foster Street New Haven, Connecticut - East RockCrosswalk pedestrian signal needed at Foster and Eagle streets. There is a lot of stroller and dog traffic in this neighborhood, cars go too quickly down Foster, and with street parking on both sides of the street, it can be a challenge to see oncoming traffic. Something to slow or stop traffic to allow for safe street crossing is necessary. Thank you.
