Notified About

  • 146 Cottage Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
We have seen people climbing up to the second floor window to get in because he said his landlord threw him out and he needed to get his stuff. the cellar windows on street level are out and we see people squeezing in and out of them. This has been going on at least since the springtime. We have seen lots and lots of people constantly going in and out. The grass is uncut, currently they're digging up something in the back yard. We own the building next door, 140 cottage, we rent to Yale people and they are all complaining.
  • English Dr New Haven, CT - East Rock

For some reason I don't quite understand, drivers on English drive routinely drive at speeds that are unsafe for this narrow, winding road. While I'd like to believe that people are smart enough to gauge for themselves safe travel speeds based on the conditions at hand, recent events seem to indicate that some drivers will drive what they believe to be the speed limit regardless of road conditions, even to the point of losing control of their vehicles.

    Recent event:

If drivers continue to demonstrate an inability to judge for themselves safe speeds on this road, I suggest that the engineers determine safe speeds for them and communicate this information using highway warning signs from the Manual of Universal Traffic Control Devices.

I recommend a W1-5 (Winding Road Warning Sign) shown here:
    http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/htm/2003r1r2/part2/fig2c-01_longdesc.htm
Combined with a W13-1 (Advisory Speed Plaque) shown here:
    http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/htm/2003r1r2/part2/fig2c-05_longdesc.htm

According to the driver who lost control of her vehicle at this location, she lost control while traveling at "25 m.p.h." under dry road conditions. To me, this indicates that the W13-1 Advisory Speed Plaque should display a recommended speed substantially lower than "25 m.p.h." I recommend 15 m.p.h.

  • 185 Cold Spring St. New Haven, CT - East Rock
We wonder when at least one side of Cold Spring St. will be plowed to the curb? The church has no parking lot, only street parking. The building is not only used on Sunday morning, but every night of the week by many 12 step and community groups who now have no access.
  • 3 North Bank Street New haven, CT - East Rock
Traffic is at a standstill during moring and evening rush. It took 10 minutes to drive 10 ft to make the turn onto North Bank. How much longer will this be an issue? It's a mess with schoolbuses and cars making K turns on Mitchell.
  • Everit Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
There are many trees on the long block of Everit Street that are very sickly -- covered with brown, shriveled leaves. They are all the same type of tree.
Can someone investigate so the trees don't die?
  • 786 Orange St New Haven, CT 06511 - East Rock
3 kids lurking in backyard. 2 on bikes. Were followed by resident but could not tell him why they were in his backyard.
happened at 3 PM (I accidentally wrote AM)
  • 875 Orange St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock
This car has been parked in front of a hydrant for at least 2 full days now. This selfish person has put the safety of local residents in jeopardy. There are plenty of lawful parking spots.
  • Bike Theft Archived
90 Livingston New Haven, CT - East Rock
Stolen bike. Black Kona Blast mountain bike w/ disk brakes. Stolen 7/12/11.
One of many bike thefts in the area this summer!
  • Willow St And Livingston St New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
A group of about 15 on motorbikes and at least one quad just ran the red light heading west on Willow St (towards Whitney). A number of them had their faces covered to obscure their identities.
  • Willow Street New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Willow Street between the end of Mitchell Drive and the entrance to 91 has been unpaved and unmarked for weeks. This causes major slow downs (very bad at rush hour), cars crossing into wrong lanes (no lanes marked), and potential car damage because of bumps/rough roads/potential accidents
  • Drug Dealing Archived
235 Nicoll St New Haven, Connecticut - East Rock
Rampant car to car drug dealing on Nicoll St between Willow and Canner.
  • 161 Foster St New Haven, CT 06511, USA - East Rock
The red light here has recently (past couple weeks maybe?) been on the wrong cycle -- as if there was a pedestrian walk signal on this light, which there's not. Both sides of light have been going red and waiting for ~10 secs extra.
