Winnona Park Neighborhood

Notified About

  • 402 East Howard Avenue Decatur, GA 30030, United States of America - Decatur
Dead Birds on sidewalks. There are too many of these birds blocking the sidewalk in Decatur what's going on?

101-139 Winnona Drive Decatur Georgia - Decatur
Heading west on Winnona in front of #118 in quick succession there is a sinking (and wide) pot hole from a previous repair, then a speed bump followed by pavement elevation due to a tree root. This makes a very bumpy ride approaching Candler; some cars bottom out when driving through it. This is the second report (at least) of this problem.
  • 401-499 E Howard Ave Decatur, GA 30030, USA - Decatur
Some people walking dogs along E Howard Avenue in stretch from Ice House Lofts all the way to Kimball House along both sides of street and also all the way down Hillyer Place are NOT picking up dog waste. They are leaving it in the grass, in landscaping and even on the sidewalks. These are animal and litter code violations. It's become so bad recently that someone is noting it by putting little flags in all the big piles of feces. We need multiple signs reminding people to clean up after their pets and animal waste bag stations. I am enclosing photos of what I encountered on my walks recently in a two block area.

Scooters being dropped off and blocking the path.
  • 309 East College Ave Decatur, Georgia - Decatur
Decatur or some authority greatly shortened the light for East College traffic at the intersection of East College and South McDonough. In addition, someone painted a left turn only arrow on East College for left turns on to S Candler/Trinity. So, if you are traveling east on East College towards the intersection with South Candler, you cannot use the left lane to drive through the intersection even though the left lane continues on the other side of the intersection. This is senseless because, again, there are two eastbound lanes on East College both before and after the intersection at S Candler. Limiting cars going through this intersection to just one lane causes traffic to back up horribly on East College, even during the low volume times of day - and because this left only arrow is so senseless, it seems to be an error in how the street was painted when the new lights were turned on.

101-139 Winnona Dr Decatur, GA 30030, USA - Decatur
Large pothole that is directly in front of a speed bump that causes cars to bottom out on the speed bump if they don't know the pothole exist.
  • 2-4 Village Walk Drive Decatur, Georgia - Decatur
Gravel & debris have been left uncollected by the City since the Feb snow storm. There is a huge pile that has accumulated. Reporting again in hopes of this issue actually being addressed. 1st ticket # 4113254 entered 2/11/18, which is 10 weeks ago. 2nd ticket #4205124 entered 3/6/18, which is almost 7 weeks ago. It should not take ten weeks to get City maintenance to clean up this sidewalk/street issue.
  • 901 South Candler - Decatur
This house has multiple code violations.
  • 142 Ga-10 Decatur, GA 30030, USA - Decatur
Agnes Scott crosswalk lights do not work facing westbound

742 S. Candler St Decatur, Georgia - Decatur
Foliage on sidewalk. This has been reported before. No action was taken. In general, as you can see from the picture, the sidewalk here is in very bad shape. The overgrowth causes children and other pedestrians to step perilously close to speeding traffic on Candler Street. This should be a high priority.
  • 124 Bucher Dr Decatur, Georgia - Decatur
There is a water fountain at the WPES playground that was installed a couple years ago but does not work. With several sports using the field in addition to the children during the day, it would be fantastic if the City could get this working again.
  • 915 S Candler St Decatur 30030, United States - Decatur
This is an eyesore and has been for the last few years. Surely, if this were in a neighborhood, something would have been done about it by now. I am tired of looking at this out of the front of my house at 844 S. Candler. Putting up the orange fencing is no better. When will the property owner be forced to address this? Why doesn’t the City use eminent domain power and assume it and tear it down?
