    Question: Why are some in favor of an "Addiction Recovery" facility vs. 4 new condominiums (8 units) on the site of the old Ward 2 Social Club? I can understand concerns re. traffic but, don't the neighbors feel that a slight uptick in traffic would far outweigh the cons of having an addiction recovery center in the neighborhood?

    I saw that the last time someone broached this topic, on this site, it was taken down after receiving some fairly heated responses from neighbors. Is reporting potholes and graffiti more important than the safety of our families, specifically those of us who have young, impressionable children?

    The question that I have, as I'm sure others do, as well, is how do we stop this from happening? Can't the abutting neighbors (whose names are public due their pending lawsuit) realize that a new condominium, with the proposed beach access and other improvements, will raise land values for all and beautify the Bridge Street Neck neighborhood? Why would anyone choose an addiction clinic, or the abandoned social club, over a new development that will improve the entire neighborhood?

    Salon at 132 north has plowed its lot such that several enormous mounds of snow are blocking the sidewalk, forcing pedestrians into the street. It is now 5 days since the storm.

    On the corner where Dunkin Donuts is with Walgreens on Boston Street and Bridge Street is very deadly to try to cross even with the crosswalk no one will stop multiple times my self and my children have almost gotten hit trying to walk across the street to Dunkin Donuts nobody stops there is a crosswalk but that nobody sees it I really think you should invest in time to think about putting a proper cross walk light there for safety of everyone

    For the past several nights a group of 3-5 homeless have taken up residence in the alleyway across from CVS on Essex Street bordering the new hotel construction. They have been arriving at 2:00 to 5:00 am each morning, yelling, arguing, swearing, screaming and littering. My family members have been awakened by them on each of the occasions. Many people live in the Condos and Apartments in this area and this is becoming a problem we need help controlling.

    Pudgy old man sits at Lappin Park smoking cigars and taking pictures of women. When he puts out his cigar in the butt bin, the hot ashes float through the air and land on the grass. Glasses, shaved head, white goatee. Creepy.

    I am seeing rats in my yard running through to my neighbor's. There is an empty lot next to the garage on this street where people dump trash. Seeing rats there too, could be all the construction in the surrounding area as well. Either way I would like to get rid if them. They come out in the day. I won't sit in my patio.

    The river walk along Leslie's retreat park is great. There is a very real danger of drowning here however. If you look in the North river there are new wood walls on either side of the river. These walls offer absolutely no grip or hand or foot holds. If someone were to fall in their only option would be to swim up to 100 yards possibly against a strong current to be able to climb out near O'Rourke's.
    At mid tide the wall is seven feet high with no hope of a person touching bottom.

    Is there some way the city can put even some makeshift 2*4 ladders inside these walls in a couple places in each side?

    Honestly, especially in winter, the next person who falls in here or has to go in after a child or dog is going to die. There is no way to get out of the water even if you are in great shape. It's a flat wall. You couldn't design a better trap if you tried.

    Please consider this issue, it's completely unsafe.

    Please pass to the Salem PD: two drivers ran the red light while the crosswalk signal was lit (6:14am 1/12/17). I cross this intersection weekday mornings between 6:10-6:18 am and evenings between 5-7 pm. I see an average of 4 cars a week run the red light at this intersection. Twice between mid-November and end of December I was nearly Hit when crossing IN the crosswalk while the crossing light was ON due to drivers running the red light. This issue is getting worse. Despite the reflective clothing I wear drivers are ignoring the lights. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed. PLEASE do something to address this issue.

    This is an very busy tourist section between viewing the bewitched statue, the tours, and all the restaurants near. A crossing signal would be a great addition here especially with all the night life around here and many people walk home or to the hotel if local it would make it a lot safer the only crossing signals on this road are at the tavern in the square intersection and the intersection at the train station I think adding one in the middle would be smart and safer with the amount of people walking around that intersection and cars driving, its always a traffic jam.
