It is unsafe, an eyesore, and an accident waiting to happen. Difficult to tell from the angle of the picture, but it has to be raised 6" off the ground.

Washington Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Hill
Does anyone know what to do with this issue?
My car was hit by a huge chunk of paving stones/debris from the back of a Tilcon truck when they were paving Washington Ave last month.
I pulled over to talk to one of the men in the traffic vests thinking that they were police or worked for the town — but the one I would up speaking with wasn’t. He actually was a contract worker and could barely speak English. I showed him the damage and he told me to “call the town.”I know of some people who have had the damage to their cars paid for by the town from potholes and other such damage (road debris from the recent tornado also comes to mind). I don’t think it is fair to have to put a claim into my insurance and have to pay my deductible (I may as well just pay out of pocket to avoid the increased premium)!
Has this happened to anyone else? Has the town helped by paying for the damage? If I were to contact the town, who do you recommend I call?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
