Notified About

  • Diamond Street New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills
It is a street sweeping day. All tow trucks are out like hyenas. They are supposed to tow everyone that is parked on the street, correct? Then why do some cars, vans etc get picked up by tow trucks and then parked in driveways. Some unfortunate person needs to find their car gone and need to find a way to pay the ticket and the tow while others get the luxury of having their car, van parked for them. Cops are present and allow that. It is not fair for some and not others.

There is an aggressive wild animal in the neighborhood, attacking people. Today a huge adult groundhog was digging in my yard, and my elderly neighbor went down the yard to see what is was, and threw something at it. Immediately, it rushed at her, she fell down, and it attacked her, biting her on the side. I rushed to try to chase it off, and it came after me. When I grabbed a big stick, I was able to stop it, but it still stood its ground and wanted to fight. When I reported this to the police, they said it is my problem and that I will have to contract personally with an exterminator to get rid of it at my expense. But this is not my personal problem. It's a community problem. When is it going to bite a child passing by? Does it have a disease, causing it to act aggressively. It does not "live" on my property. I think it has its main hole on my neighbor's property, but it crosses mine, and travels all over the neighborhood, even out to the street. This should be a city health problem.
  • 226 Ellsworth Avenue New Haven, Connecticut - Edgewood
This building consistently has an insane amount of garbage flowing freely out of the dumpsters and onto the sidewalk, into the street, and down the alleyway. The building manager has been spoken to several times by neighbors as it is unsightly, smelly, and a health hazard. When the garbage is collected, building management allows the garbage to be blown outside of the property line, not properly collected and disposed of. Go ahead, drive by. You can't miss it.
  • 195 Roydon Rd New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills
This house has been reported several times and nothing has been done to it. It is a mess outside and continues to get worse.
  • 10 Jewel St. New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills
18 wheelers are sporadically parked on Jewel St., lining the cemeteries. I understand the $20 parking violation ticket they sometimes receive is not a disincentive to stop parking there, in a residential area. Perhaps it's time for the city alders to think about raising the parking fine to actually make a difference. This is not the only place in Beaver Hills where 18 wheelers park--another spot is the intersection of Blake and Valley in the old 500 Blake St. parking lot.
  • 93 Osborn Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills
