  • Street Repair Archived
Lark Street At Lancaster Street Albany, New York - Center Square
The roadbed appears to have failed where it meets the granite curbing and belgian block crosswalk. Some vehicles swerve to miss this deep pothole, but others - especially emergency vehicles, trucks and buses - hit the potholes with a force that causes my house to shake 1/2 block to the west. Would it be possible to fill the potholes - at least temporarily - with crushed stone and/or place an electronic sign on Lark to urge and monitor reduced speed?

The motorcycle situation is out of control. Many nights, but especially this hour, tonight. Up and down Central Avenue. Screeching revving. I live two blocks in toward the park, and I can’t escape the sound through closed windows.

Rain is one of the nicest maintained restaurants in the area and the building is privately owned. Why are 4 or 5 homeless "traveler" youth and their dogs being allowed to camp there day after day being rude to customers, creating a mess, etc. ? Just because homes and businesses are in a more urban area doesn't make them public property. Much of this area is private property and should be treated, respected and protected as such. That goes for all the people who thinks it's fine to eat their food, drink their booze, and smoke their weed on private stoops at all hours making noise and leaving all of their trash and mess. This is not all public property to be used at will.

    Fireworks. Fireworks. Fireworks.
  • Morris St. And New Scotland Albany New York - Park South

After promising the Park South neighborhood, that it would use its garages and work diligently not to impact community parking, Albany Med has sanctioned multiple valet stands in the neighborhood around the hospital who admit they are not only using all the street parking before even considering the garage, but who are now blocking off street parking with valet service cones. Note from the sign in the photo (far right side) that this valet stand is also blocking designated residential parking on both sides of Morris that is much needed. Albany Med also advertises this valet service and the service refers community complaints to AMC, so it's clear the hospital is fully aware.

This is also impacting Sefcu customers who have as much right as AMC to find parking to do business. Both sides of Morris (residential parking) are being dominated by the valet service and they also use the CVS lot.

The answer is NOT to remove the residential parking signs and give one more area of our community over to Albany Med. The appropriate response is to respect and protect our community's rights and for Albany Med to honor its promises and use their garage. If AMC wants to provide valet parking, they need to provide it on their own premises by having patients and visitors pull up onto its own property and valet drivers can take the vehicles to the garage. It's way past time for such encroachments and disregard to be addressed rather than sanctioned by any arm of the city if that is what is happening.

This site should be called “see click do nothing” because that’s what Albany PD does about the constant dirt bikes and motorcycles revving all around the park and Lark St all night long. Every. Single. Night. Almost nightly people post about it. It never changes.
  • Illegal Trash Archived
234 Lark St. Albany, New York - Center Square
There are loads of garbage out front of 234 Lark St. Providing one more reason, the Lark corridor has a reputation for looking trashy. If we want to draw customers, start with the litter issue, the increasing and harassing panhandling, trash out front of buildings at illegal times and days, the filthy sidewalks and the lack of holiday spirit. The only pre-holiday First Friday was yesterday and it was dead. Some store windows look nice, but the trees up and down Lark need to be lit.

Unfortunately all six colors of the rainbow crosswalk need to be touched up since they were damaged by rain. Is there a sealant we can use once the paint dries? It's not easy to have "pride" in a crosswalk that got washed away like this.

460 Madison Ave Albany, NY, 12208, USA - Park South
Besides revving their engines to an ear splitting level and doing U-turns in the busy intersection with oncoming cars, these two motorcycles park directly in the marked "no parking bus stop." No one answers at Parking Enforcement and the police are unresponsive to parking issues nights and weekends.
  • 61-199 Willett St Albany, NY, 12210, USA - Hudson Park
For well over 3 hours, the motorcycles have been racing through the neighborhood and park, and the patios are still filled with loud crowds at both Lark Tavern and the Lionheart. APD, please inform the establishments that patrons need to be inside and so does the noise as of 11:00 PM. Having blaring music with the doors open is NOT adherence either. As is typical, there is no police presence and the issues have been reported without police response. Someone from the city will post to call the police as though that hasn't already been done. How about instructing the establishments and the police to do their jobs instead of telling others to keep futilely calling. Someone on another post mentioned calling the state police to ask for their assistance since Albany PD is not patrolling or enforcing in this area and has not been with any consistency or resolution of issues for a number of years.

Can a City Official inform area bars and restaurants that customers can't congregate outside after 11:00 PM. Too many seem to think it's enough to tell customers the outside area is closed but still allow them to congregate outside after that, including until 2:00 and 4:00 AM.
  • Washington Park Rd Albany, NY 12208, USA - Albany
employees private vehicles are now being allowed to be parked in the flower garden area??? this is appalling.... total misuse of the park.
