    Ca-24 E Oakland, CA, 94618, USA - Shafter
A couple has been camping on the corner of Locksley Ave & Forest St for months. The trash situation is getting out of control. They're using the corner as a bathroom, which is a major public health risk. The man defecated in front of a child, exposing himself in the process. The man yells at passersby, not that you want to walk too close because it smells horrible. I live half a block away with my young son and we need to walk by that corner to get to College Ave and the BART station. These people need to be relocated.

Forest St Oakland 94618, United States - Shafter
Two Homeless individuals sleeping under underpass for over a year. Frequently there is garbage everywhere. Couple (especially the male is very hostile. In addition, there is a male sleeping literally underneath the tracks. This area is filled with garbage and seems like a public hazard as it’s literally underneath the BART tracks and freeway. It’s unfortunate that the City tells me that they can’t move them, but I will keep reporting as this is not ok to let people trash our neighborhood.

  • 5415 Claremont Ave Oakland, CA, 94618, USA - Shafter

Persistent illegal encampment off of HWY 24 offramp at Claremont. This is becoming dangerous. There are multiple parties with dogs tied up outside all day and all night. They move out the area every other week as Cal Trans does a sweep of the area and move back in. As they move, tons of debris, furniture and bikes are littering the sidewalks and freeway offramp. I have witnessed several cars swerving to avoid hitting these people ON THE OFFRAMP.

After reporting this safety and health issues it CalTrans many times, Cal Trans has declared via email that access to this area is the responsibility of the City of Oakland. Please put up a fence blocking the area off to access. This can only help eliminate folks from being on the roadway. This is an issue that needs to be addressed before a person is hit by a car while moving belongings around in this area.

  • 350 63rd St Oakland, CA, 94618, USA - Fairview Park

Please make Hillegass a Slow Street!

I live on the corner of 63rd and Hillegass and we have a lot of foot traffic crossing here and at 62nd to get to the businesses on College Avenue. However, drivers routinely speed too fast down Hillegass and rarely come to a full stop (and some barely slow down) at the intersections, which are not marked for pedestrian crossing even though they are used heavily. The intersections at Alcatraz and Claremont are also dangerous for pedestrians.

This problem got significantly worse after the College/Claremont Safeway reopened and with driving apps like Google Maps and Waze directing drivers on to Hillegass in order to avoid College/Claremont slow down. Declaring Colby a Slow Street has been a boon to our neighborhood but unfortunately it has also forced some additional car traffic onto Hillegass, exacerbating the problem.

Please consider making Hillegass a Slow Street. It is a residential street that is being treated as a traffic artery by drivers to get from Claremont to Alcatraz and who are making it unsafe for people who live here and want to travel on foot or by bicycle.
