Organized pan handlers are out in traffic walking between cars at the corner of County Line RD and HWY 72 on Sun. about 1200. Now they are coming out during rush hour traffic during the week. They are carrying white buckets and wear yellow reflective vests but will not identify who they are collecting for. It is becoming a serious traffic and safety issue.

Utility work was done at the corner of Balch Road and Winding Creek Road a month or two ago. The grass at the entrance of Cross Creek subdivision was removed and replaced with Bermuda that is dormant in the winter and doesn't match the non-dormant grass that belongs to Cross Creek HOA. I contacted AT&T, but they said that the City of Huntsville replaced the grass. Who do we need to speak to about having tall fescue grass planted to replace the Bermuda? Thank you.

There is a small dead deer near the fence on the southwest corner of the Cross Creek neighborhood. There are several large coyotes eating on the carcass. Several residents have seen up to four large coyotes wandering in the neighborhood along the walking trail nearby this afternoon. One resident reported that the coyotes keep dragging the carcass from one side of the fence to the other in the area near the ditch and fence on the right before you enter Cross Creek from Balch Road. I don't know how much of the dead deer will be left by the time you can get someone to check on it. We are concerned that the deer is attracting more coyotes into the neighborhood. As secretary of the HOA, I have notified everyone to be cautious, especially with their pets. Thank you.

A silver truck is parked in front of this home 95% of the time since roughly last January. The road is curved, and the truck limits visibility. Children play on the street and sidewalks. There appears to always be room in the home's driveway for the vehicle where it would not be a safety concern. Thank you.

Several people in our neighborhood mentioned this on NextDoor today. Thought the city would like to know and address this issue. (Copied from NextDoor entry)

    Failure to stop!

This morning (Tuesday, Dec. 5) at approximately 9:30 we were stopped at the intersection of South Back Creek Road and Winding Creek Road. We were just about to make a left into Winding Creek when a Huntsville trash truck that picks up random garbage was driving at excessive speeds on Winding Creek sped through the intersection without stopping. I can't imagine what might have happened if we had been further into our turn. There has been much discussion regarding this happening. I only wish we had followed the truck into the subdivision across Balch to get the tag number. However, we were too shook up to think straight. Speeding and running a stop sign!!! Be careful out there!

Another neighbor also saw the truck traveling at an excessive speed down Winding Creek, "like it was going to a fire".
It's bad enough that we have problems with drivers cutting through the neighborhood ignoring the stop signs, now city vehicles are doing the same. We would appreciate your help.
    Thank you.

  • Legendwood Drive Nw Huntsville, Alabama - Huntsville
This morning emergency services were called out to the Legendwood Neighborhood concerning a car that ran off of Capshaw road into the back of a house on Legendwood Drive. Neighbor reported that it took 2 phone calls and the response time from the first call was greater than 30 minutes. First responder on the scene was a state trooper. This is unacceptable if this was a real emergency!

Spilled paint from city garbage truck has been stuck to the street on Shoals Point Trail for over a year now. I reported this when it happened over a year ago and the only resolution that was offered from Huntsville Sanitation was "We have spoken with our driver's to inform them to not pick up cans that have paint in them, to prevent this from happening again." Well, the drivers still don't check the cans before emptying them. This was just the city's way out of having to remove it. I hoped that as time passed it would wear away but it has not. It looks terrible. The city needs to come out and pressure wash all this mess off the street. If nothing is done this time, I will contact 'WHNT investigates' because we have been having to look at this mess for over a year and it was reported in October 2017 and nothing was ever done.
