26-28 Kenmore Rd Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4Thank you Malden for the beautiful fountain and flowing water feature that you have installed at this location. It has been here for a week now and all of the residents just LOVE it. In fact, we are considering hosting a neighborhood regatta. Many of us are however concerned by what it is doing to the street and the ground under it, and by the amount of water being wasted. Several hundred gallons per day must being going right down the drain. Literally.
900 Main St Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4Insurance fraud/illegal registration. This vehicle is a fixture in the neighborhood. I have observed it multiple times per month since mid-summer (at least six months). Despite that, the vehicle continues to bear FL plates. The vehicle is clearly not principally garaged in FL. No doubt, the owner is getting a significant savings on both registration fees, and more importantly, insurance premiums. This is rate evasion and constitutes insurance fraud. It is a crime and a serious problem that costs the rest of us who are honest to pay higher premiums to offest the fraud. Please investigate. If the city cannot for some reason, please provide the appropriate contact information to report the owner to state insurance fraud investigators. Thank you.
Main St & Winter St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4This intersection is incredibly dangerous for pedestrian traffic. The walk sign is a joke, it takes up to 5 minutes for it to go on after pushing. It doesn't interrupt the cycle, the lights go for at least one more full cycle before the walk sign comes on. It's ironic that it's right next to a "Malden walks" sign, since this is such a poorly designed intersection it's truly frightening to cross on foot.
Medford St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 1Medford St from Highland Ave to Pearl St. Numerous potholes throughout this stretch keep getting worse each time it rains
861-889 Main St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 5Just crossed the intersection of Forest and Main. Both sides of the sidewalk are dug up, I had to step into traffic, no one was directing traffic nor was there a clear path directing me as a pedestrian where to go. This is a heavily traveled pedestrian and cyclist route to get to Oak Grove - which we've been complaining about for months now so you should be more than aware - and someone is going to get hurt unless safety measures are taken.
875 Main St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 5
The owner of the gas station on the corner of Main St and Forest has not shoveled a single time all winter. Multiple complaints on this same exact issue have been filed via this site all winter, and we've received multiple responses such as "snow has been cleared" after it has melted, and "the owner of the property has been cited".
This intersection is already pretty dangerous for pedestrians (see https://seeclickfix.com/issues/3043166) and this sidewalk not being shoveled makes it even worse. Pedestrians are forced to walk in the road on Forest St when coming to or from Main St, at the risk of being hit by cars making a fast turn. This is a heavily trafficked intersection for both cars and pedestrians due to Oak Grove MBTA so close.
At what point will the city actually put value to the safety of pedestrians? The property owner can receive thousands of dollars in citations each year, but that doesn't make the snow go away if they just ignore it.
Malden, please, think about the safety of your citizens!!!
876 Main St Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4Sidewalks are closed on both sides of Main and both sides of Forest. Pedestrians must walk in the street through a construction zone with no area marked off for them to do so. The dangers of this intersection are well documented. And it is a major pedestrian route for the T station. Please come up with a plan to allow pedestrians to safely navigate before someone gets hurt here.

160-170 Forest St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 5
Can a cross walk be added to this intersection for pedestrians?
This intersection seems like a good area to have a cross walk because of the median and traffic light pole already there. Many people walk to Oak Grove along this street and I have noticed it is difficult to do it safely.
There are no other designated crosswalks along Forest Street.
I also think there should be a walk button and cross walk for crossing Main at Forest. This would improve pedestrian safety in Malden when walking to Oak Grove.
Ferry St @ Eastern Ave Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 7
Please note: this inquiry is NOT intended for Limebike. Please do not reassign to Limebike. It is intended for the City. Thank you.
On May 29, I posted about the multitude of Limebikes being ridden on city sidewalks and endangering pedestrians, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities (issue 5934124). Limebike responded by saying that state law does not prohibit riding bicycles on sidewalks except in central business districts, and that Malden does not have any ordinance that goes further. In other words: We can ride our bikes (which are motorized, by the way) on your sidewalks and you can't stop us.
From the City, I would like to know:
1. Is Limebike's reading of our ordinances correct?
2. If so, what defines our central business district, and what is being done to enforce the law and protect pedestrians in that area?
3. Also if so, and most importantly, what is Malden doing about the problem? Limebike appears to be taking advatage of a gap in our ordinances and overall planning scheme to allow its users to operate its motorized bicycles on our sidewalks. That may be great for Limebike and its users. But it's terrible for the city and the vast majority of its residents. So we need an ordinance (like most cities and towns have). I suspect that you would find near universal support for the proposition that adults should not be riding bicycles on sidewalks, which are intended for pedestrians, anywhere in the city. (The lack of suitable streets for riding bicycles is a separate problem that also needs to be addressed -- but not at the expense of pedestrians). Even short of an ordinance, it seems that the city can negotiate whatever terms it wants with this company, and that common sense dictates that a restriction against operating these motorized bicycles on sidewalks should be a part of the deal. So again, does the city acknowledge the existence of the problem and intend to address it?
Century Bank 140 Ferry St, Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 1
Traffic cutting through Century Bank parking lot to avoid traffic light @ Eastern Avenue and Ferry Streets. Saw TWO vehicles passing through this morning. DANGEROUS as they are coming out the Ferry Street side and cut through the traffic to get onto Ferry Street heading towards the Ferryway School.
Also encountered MANY vehicles blocking intersections AND running red lights on my short trip to drop off at the Malden Centre MBTA Station this morning. 😨
ALOT more traffic these days in Malden. We need to be on top of violators to make our roads safer for EVERYONE.
