  • POTHOLE Archived
1017 Trailwood Drive Raleigh, North Carolina - Southwest
I'm not sure the location is exact, but there is a VERY large pothole on Trailwood (the right side if you are driving towards Avent Ferry Road). You have to swerve into the other lane to avoid it blowing out your tire, which is very dangerous when there is oncoming traffic.

This morning, traffic is backed up down Hillsborough Street westbound because a construction crane has been planted in front of the new apartment building under construction. The balancing legs of the crane extend out into the traffic and lane, and this is causing traffic to have to drive up on the brick median to pass. The buses and a Coca-Cola truck I have been watching are having a very difficult time getting by due to oncoming traffic prohibiting them from being able to drive up and across the brick median.

These new traffic cross indicators are brilliant! 1) You can't tell if you activate it. There is no button to push. It doesn't beep.
    2) When it is time to cross, instead of the normal audio chirp people have become used to (especially blind people) there is an inaudible message. We are all standing around trying to understand what it says. With the wind, and the passing cars, and all the other noise on Hillsborough St, it sounds more like the teacher on Charlie Brown. Why replace the perfectly working crosswalk activators and buttons?

I am disgusted to share this. On Tuesday Jan 28 at 4:30 p.m. the driver on Inbound CAT 12 passed a usual handicap passenger waiting at this stop. A man was standing at the front talking to her and she laughed and said out loud, "I ain't waiting for him!" Passengers on the bus were just appalled and she just continued to laugh about the handicapped passenger who she left in the freezing cold. I think she was just trying to show off to the man who was standing at the front laughing with her. Passengers were horrified. I was disgusted. She should be fired. If there is anyone who really need the bus, it's handicapped passengers. I'm appalled she thought it was funny and that her being on time was too important to wait for the handicapped man. I hope you have audio and video of this. I plan to share this with WRAL it is that egregious.

Every afternoon at 3pm I have the displeasure of seeing University Dining Employees from the institution I love throw trash on the sidewalk around the bus stop on Hillsborough Street (towards downtown). All employees from the Atrium Food Court. 2 women in Green Delirious Shirts, 2 others in black (one woman and one man) and one other guy in black pants and a tan shirt. The 3 women are always the offenders. When the bus arrives they just throw their cups and trash down on the sidewalk. What a disgusting example of how employees are representing their workplace and the University.

3/22/16 @ 7:40 a.m. Westbound Hillsborough Street is blocked by a large U.S. Foods 18 wheeler unloading items in front of the Aloft. I was a passenger in a car being dropped off so I just got out and walked over to NC State. Westbound traffic was completely backed up past the YMCA. The roundabout was full- no one could move. As I got closer to the Bell Tower I could see the U.S. Foods truck was unloading out of a side door and the GoTriangle bus could not get by the truck because there is a median now down Hillsborough Street. There should be some rules about this, trucks should not be unloading at rush hour, blocking the roads. Make them park on Maiden or Enterprise! This truck was here last week as well, but the back-up was nothing like this morning.

  • Enterprise St & Hillsborough St Raleigh, NC - Wade
Since the Hillsborough Street "improvement" it has become virtually impossible to turn left onto Enterprise from Eastbound Hillsborough St. There is a left turn lane, no arrow, and traffic on West Hillsborough St is just 1 car after another non-stop.
  • 2430 Hillsborough Street Raeligh, North Carolina - Wade
The signal is beeping non-stop, whether there is someone there or not. It's also too loud and is disruptive for offices on the street side of Patterson Hall on NCSU campus. Please fix so it only beeps when needed and reduce the volume if possible. Thanks.

This evening I sat in a long line of cars on Hillsborough Street for (no kidding) 25 minutes. I don't mean moving slow, I mean completely STOPPED. Why? A Wolfline bus broke down in the cow chute close to the belltower where eastbound traffic had no way to get around because cars were parked on the spots on the right, and a vehicle trying to get around on the left got stuck on the brick median. Of course there was no asistance from police from NCSU or RPD. But then, they probably could not have got there in the first place.

I spoke to a friend on the phone who told me traffic was backed up past Dixie Trail. What if an emergency vehicle had to get through? This cow chute is dangerous.

  • Gardner St Raleigh, NC 27607, USA - Hillsborough

There needs to be more prominent marking that cars are not allowed to turn right from Hillsborough St (towards dt), at Gardner St. into the NC State library bus area. Nobody pays attention to the no right turn sign hanging next to the light and cars are always zooming down the road to turn right and head up Founders Dr. Because there is supposed to be no right turn for cars of Hillsborough St, pedestrians cross here without thinking about cars pulling into their walking area. Maybe the city can put a sign further up the street that says NO RIGHT TURN at Gardner St or something? I am just concerned someone is going to get killed. I have seen many near missed, especially around 5pm when pedestrian and car traffic is heavy.

    Thank you.
