215 Pleasant Street Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4I went into City Hall recently and was informed that the Treasury accepts only cash or check. The year is 2021: this is embarrassing. I see no reason that credit/debit payment should be accepted for online pay but not in-person pay. Additionally, upon becoming visibly flustered by this inadequacy, it was not made clear to me that Malden has a robust online payment system. This should be the obvious next step in this situation.
690 Main St Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4contractors have their trucks parked on the sidewalk, portapotty is parked on the sidewalk, trucks going the wrong direction at a stop sign where pedestrians are nearly hit navigating the crosswalk, trucks are parked in the direction of oncoming traffic, and there is as police detail employed at the site to ensure people's safety. How come citizens have to write in on this site to have the police detail enforce safety procedures?
169 Pleasant St Malden, MA 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4Re: issue 10424922. Unfortunately the mayor did not understand the concern raised. The question was not why the United States flag was lowered to half-staff. Rather, it was why the lowered US flag was in a position below the flags on either side, which had not been not lowered. With only the most limited exceptions (like Naval funerals at sea, outside the United Nations, etc.), no other flag should be flown above the United States flag. So the display was in violation of the guidelines for proper flag display. It was certainly nowhere near the most disrespectful display of the flag I've seen. And it clearly was not intentional. However, the answer was concerning as the failure to even understand the nature of the question demonstrates a lack of familiarity with the guidelines. Please ensure that all city employees responsible for displaying the flag, including the mayor, understand and follow proper ettitquette when doing so. The guidelines can be found at 4 USC 1, et seq. Thank you.
166 Mountain Avenue Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4This is a public shelter for homeless families and there is fecal matter in the halls, rotting bags of garbage, and hoards of oversized toys and personal belongings that no doubt are hazardous for ones health and cause fire hazards. I've voiced my concerns to management with no avail.

Are we not enforcing the shoveling of sidewalks this year? There seems to be no responses to any of the complaints being made.
Just wondering if I don't have to worry about doing this at my house anymore since there seem to be no consequences.......

This is an ADA violation. The city says the park is still open. However, it has been made inaccessible for many disabled individuals. The gap to the right of the gate is insufficiently wide. A direct path through is obstructed by a pole just a few feet away. The incline is significant. Access to disabled parking, at the top of the very steep hill is cut off. There is no disabled parking on the street. But even with that, the park would remain inaccessible for the above reasons.
The motivation for doing this appears to be a small group of highly vocal residents who seem to think this park is their personal backyard, and that they have the right to exclude people from this PUBLIC park. While some damage has occurred at the park, this park is not unique in that regard. We deal with that at all of our city parks. That damage is occurring overnight, not during daylight hours. The closure of the gate during daylight hours, which still allows able-bodied people to enter the park, does nothing to address this. It only punishes law abiding people (including taxpayers, who have a right to access the park). While some neighbors no doubt have good intentions, others are clearly trying to exclude people unfairly. Note the repeated nonsensical claims by some on SCF over the past few months that visitors to the park were "spreading Covid." That dog whistle is loud and clear. The city claims that visitors to the park may park on the street. However, the street is resident permit parking only. So the parking situation makes it difficult, if not impossible, for residents who do not live within walking distance to use the park. This is by design.
The neighborhood surrounding the park is more affluent and less diverse than the city as a whole. That's a fact. The effect of this policy is to make it significantly more difficult for people from other neighborhoods to use the park. So even if discrimination isn't the intent, it IS the effect, whether it is on the basis of socio-economic status, race/ethnicity, or disability.
Stop discriminating. Unlock the gate during daylight hours. This city, and this park, belongs to ALL of us.

Florence St & Main St Malden, MA, 02148, USA - Malden Ward 4Sidewalk on Main Street in front of New England Hair Academy routinely crowded with a large group of people not wearing masks and unwilling to make room for walkers passing by. It looks like its perhaps a spot where their students or staff to take breaks. It would be great if the academy could designate a specific space for breaks so that general public can pass by safely on the sidewalk while maintaining physical distance guidelines, especially since the people standing on the sidewalk are not wearing masks.

May I ask what flag was taken down to put up the LGBTQ flag?
No disrespect meant to anyone in the LGBTQ community. I know that there was initial concern that the American Flag was taken down on Memorial Day weekend, which obviously was not the case.

The common areas/ hallway of my building haven't been swept or sanitized for months.
The landlords are neglecting the management of the building and only respond when there's a complaint.
I live on the top floor and am exposed to all the filth that is spilled and dropped on the floors and stairs. When the custodian does show up, he "spot treats" the stains that are visible instead of sweeping/mopping ALL the floors and stairs. There's stains from foot traffic and a massive amount of dust buildup on the stairs AND between the banisters because they're not being cleaned properly on a regularly basis. Next, he'll spray aerosol in the air so the hallway "smells" clean. This usually takes him (5-10) mins max and then he's out!
The grounds around the building need to be maintained: Debris needs to be picked up, grass and bushes need to be cut and the mulch refreshed.
Also, tenants are throwing their garbage bags over the fire escape banister instead of placing it in the dumpster.
I have attached photos.

The flag to the right of the American Flag, is that the POW/MIA flag? Is that what was removed, prior to Memorial Day, to raise the LGBTQ flag?
Again, no disrespect meant to anyone in the community.
