The mentally unstable kid at 26 Montrose St. Plays loud music all times of day and night. I can't even open my windows. My husband has asked him many times to lower the music, even gave him head phones. Nope, didn't work. I am not going to live all Summer with my windows closed and I don't feel it is safe to speak to this nutty kid or his family. Help please, or tell me what can be done. Thank you.

This signal has been flashing yellow for several days. That creates a danger for people trying to cross to and from buses and Subway as they cannot call for a walk signal.

When the governor prohibits more than 25 people gathering for any reason outside, why is it that our city is permitting a protest downtown? Why is it the rules don't apply to everyone for every thing? Just curious. Please don't tell me about them wearing masks, social distancing, being outside, etc. The rule is no more than 25 people together outside. Just curious

The Malden Recreation Department is offering a baseball clinic for BOYS ONLY, ages five through eight. This is illegal. In 1974, a court ruling forced Little League to allow girls to play baseball. In 2009, the NCAA determined that baseball and softball were NOT the same sport (they aren't), preventing its member schools from prohibiting girls from playing baseball by offering softball as an alternative. Rulings under Title IX now require schools to allow girls to play baseball, even if a school offers softball. So in 2020, by preventing girls from participating in a baseball clinic, even though it offers a softball clinic for girls, the city is committing illegal gender discrimination. It's not even a close call.

Even if it wasn't illegal, it's simply wrong. There is no reason to be segregating children this young on the basis of gender. For as long as anyone can remember, girls have played youth baseball in this city's Little League/youth baseball programs. Many have represented Malden in district all-star/post-season competition. They continue to participate. A few years back, a 13 year old girl with a 70 mph fastball pitched a complete game shutout in the Little League World Series. Nationwide, more and more girls are sticking with baseball, not switching to softball, and demanding their right to continue to participate in baseball at the high school level, and beyond.

That may be playing a role here. The city runs a girls softball program. The city does NOT run the co-ed baseball program. So is the city trying to funnel young girls away from one program and into another it runs by illegally restricting their opportunity to participate in baseball at a young age? That's not what youth sports should be about.

These clinics are a great opportunity for kids. Those volunteering deserve tremendous credit for stepping up to help. But the city needs to stop discriminating and denying the opportunity to participate equally in baseball to girls. Before someone at the city closes or archives this without seeing that the issue is corrected, they might want to refer this to the city's attorney to allow her to weigh in. That could probably save the city a lot of trouble down the road.

Also, to any parents of girls out there who would prefer their daughter attend the baseball camp: your child may. The city may not bar your daughter from participating.

My neighbor seems to have started a business and I see him going out with several bags and making noise I find it strange because it seems to be a food thing, and as far as I know you have to be allowed to do that, I would like to not expose myself, I'm doing this because I think very wrong, and is calling attention in the neighborhood

What is being done about the dangerous, illegal fence that has been installed here? It is solid, six feet tall, just inches from the sidewalk, and replaced a three foot high chain link fence. As a result of this fence vehicles pulling onto Winter from Autumn can no longer see down Winter before entering the road. This intersection was dangerous before. Now it is much more so. Please address this.

The Carabetta Management Co - Malden Towers apartment building has an industrial AC unit (or other large mechanical equipment) in the back of the building facing Garnet St, between the Malden Towers Park and the public parking lot off Pleasant St. This week the building turned on the unit, running at all hours, and it is very loud. I hear the noise constantly from inside my nearby apartment, particularly the higher pitched tone. It is disruptive to my comfort at home. I believe the noise is excessive and exceeds the 50 dBa allowed for nighttime noise per Municipal Code 10.04.020 "Noise Abatement; Disturbing the Peace Prohibited". From my experience, I know it is clearly audible to a person of normal hearing at a distance of one hundred feet from the source. Please test and address. Thank you.
