Notified About

  • Cambridge MA, USA - Mid-Cambridge
COVID19 is a global and very deadly pandemic which requires everyone to do their part in halting its spread. That "part" requires all people to wear a mask in public. No one is exempt from this but it's clear too many people think a mask under their chin or no mask at all is ok as the rules don't apply to them. Of course this translates into asymptomatic individuals spread it to those who might actually die as over 100,000 Americans already have. Therefore it is requested that the City of Cambridge deploy the police unit to vigorously enforce the public health requirement of wearing a mask, to ticket those who aren't wearing a mask, and ensure public health. Thank you.

The city seems to have forgotten that there is a 10-year long project here that nobody has been sufficiently competent to complete Why are new roads being paved when this unfinished eyesore remains untouched?

At least 5 employees at All Star Sandwich Bar were not wearing masks on 8/31/20 around 12:45 PM. These employees were both customer service and food prep. There are more pictures than just this but I could only upload one.
  • Hampton Inn-Cambridge 191 Monsignor Obrien Hwy, Cambridge, MA, 02141, USA - East Cambridge
I was going to book into the Hampton Inn for a few nights however, they are not following the city guidelines for Covid safety. There weren't any hand sanitzer or wipes near the elevators or on the floor of each level. The front desk did not have a plexiglass or any type of shield and the clerk was only wearing a mask, but she did not have it over her nose. If hotels cannot open safely, they should remain closed until they can do so.

I posted this issue previously, but the comments got out of hand.

Again, people were honking furiously at the garbage trucks on Tremont St. around noon today while the collectors were trying to do their jobs. There was more honking from a different episode at 8AM because two very large trucks were not able to pass each other on the street. The response to my last ticket was that there were no feasible actions to take. I disagree, and propose:

    1) Cambridge should acknowledge that we have far more vehicles per hour than what is considered normal for a residential street (especially compared to neighboring Norfolk St., for example). I estimate over 100 vehicles per hour for a good period of the day, with a good chunk of that number being heavy trucks. Please use this information to understand why there is support from our neighbors to turn our small, traffic-burdened street into a Shared Street.
    2) Install some "No honking", "No idling" signage to remind drivers to stop impacting residents with their driving behaviors.
    3) Speak with some of the trash collectors and make sure they don't feel harassed. Invite them to ask if they would like a police or city escort if they have any frustrations with this aspect of the route.
    4) Encourage Cambridge police to ensure residents through public channels that they are aware and taking aggressive driving seriously (including needless honking). For reference, their current Twitter has no traffic tips, but their banner photo shows an officer standing in a bike lane...Enforcement was understandably low at the height of COVID here, but traffic is back to its old rates and traffic safety metrics are grim in Massachusetts this year, so focusing enforcement on traffic again makes sense.

    Thank you.

The Orange Theory studio at the corner of 3rd and Rogers is now conducting classes with their front door open - the class instructor broadcasts over their PA system and the volume is loud enough to wake those of us in adjacent apartments beginning at 6am.

Since the implementation of the shared street initiative, unfortunately, some pedestrians did not get the memo about yielding to others.

Twice this week I found myself on my way to or from my home, behind pedestrians who knew a car was coming up behind them (my car is not electric, one can definitely hear it coming) and did not move aside. In one case, the person even looked back, made eye contact and then started walking even slower just to spite.

I wasn't going to engage with either of these people, but seeing as how this kind of thing happened more than once, and I understand there have also been complaints from pedestrians about cars, perhaps it would benefit everyone to have a temporary traffic detail over there to explain "sharing" to those who have a harder time grasping the concept.

    Thank you.

Both sides of the street are blocked for pedestrians due to construction. This is a big problem for people walking and ADA.
  • 1704 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA, 02138, USA - Neighborhood 9
Worker on duty on 9/28/20 at 7PM was not wearing a face covering even when customers were in the store. Further, this worker went, still without mask, to a nearby restaurant where they ordered some food. When asked why he was not wearing a mask in a restaurant, the worker started shouting obscenities and threats and returned to the store where they continued to operate the store without a mask.

Please make this stop - over 40 people in line on Antrim and Cambridge streets - sitting on walls in people's driveways while they wait hours for COVID tests. The urgent care parking lot is empty.
