Traffic/Street Sign

, reported at Bradford Dr Nw Huntsville, AL, 35806, USA.

This request's status is Archived,

Concern: I think that the road marking for the lane direction of this section on Bradford Dr. is unclear for both motorist and cyclists making it difficult to share the road and thus would consider that this section as exceptionally not bike-friendly, even though this has a bike route 60 sign and "share the road" sign on Bradford. The section that I am referencing to is westbound on Bradford Drive approaching the intersection of Bradford Dr. and Explorer Blvd. (after the overpass of Research Blvd), please see picture and video. Note: I have driven on this road and biked on this road and have memorized which lane to be in before the light and where the road splits, but for new people or those who don't drive on this road often, may not know that the lane splits and into what direction. Even though I would want a safe road bike infrastructure design separating cars and bikes, is there a way to make it clearer which direction the 4 lanes on Bradford will lead to? Background: In the video which was from a bike perspective, you can see there is a curve in the road (@0:47) which could be one of the reasons why you cannot see the road markings that appear @1:03. By the time you see the road marking @1:03, it might be too late to change lanes in a car or on a bike and you might do a quick maneuver to change 4 lanes (I would consider this unsafe). And on a bike, changing lanes is much more difficult because cars are using either lanes next to you to pass around you. https://www.facebook.com/1005420714/videos/563245618994948/ Potential fix: I am not sure what current standards would be needed, but could it be considered putting the road direction markings on the road (@1:03) earlier? So you can see it maybe at @0:52 making it clearer for all vehicles on the road to think about which lane to be in?

This is by far the scariest part of my bicycle commute to CRP.
