Illegal crosswalk within roadway, please remove until approved by Public Works Commission
Kudos to the residents who put up their own crosswalk where it was sorely needed. Shame on the Public Works Commission for dragging their feet for years and failing to address this issue. It would be a better use of this forum to report actual "pavement condition" issues, of which there are many just in our own neighborhood.
Its unfortunate that the original poster chose to post anonymously. The “pop up” crosswalk is a community-spirited response to a neighborhood challenge. Makes me wonder whether the OP is a DPW Commissioner or employee that doesn’t want to share the power?
agreed with the other posters. this community response to a common its need should be left as is, unless its being replaced with a better solution.

Is it possible to downvote this issue? This crosswalk is awesome and should be made permanent.
Please add a real crosswalk here as it is needed.
Traffic Department removed the temporary crosswalk at this location on 9/17 at 12:00 p.m. The Department of Public Works has resolved this request. Thanks for helping to keep Burlington a great place to live and work.
Pathetic.
Wow, DPW moves fast on this big problem, but can't seem to get Caroline St. fixed in 3+ months and ignores issues residents' concerns over sidewalk construction. Guess we know where priorities lie.
