Description

Hi. I believe it is important to bring a safety situation to your attention.

The bike path that runs through waterfront park, by the skate park, by North Beach, by Leddy Park - I am very concerned about 1) the speed of travel, and 2) motorized vehicles on the path. It is just a matter of time until someone is seriously injured because of excessive speed and/or motorized vehicles on the path.
Speed - is there no speed limit? I haven’t seen it posted anywhere. On other paths around the country I’ve seen clearly posted speed limits.
Motorized vehicles - these include ebikes, escooters, eskateboards, and any other non-human-powered vehicle. Is there no restriction? These vehicles can easily exceed 15-20 mph, are not absolutely needed by the vast majority of users, and create an extremely dangerous environment for walkers and non-competitive bikers.
I have recommended solutions if you’re interested.
Let me be very clear - the excessive speed on the bike path is going to result in conflict and serious injury. I hope the people that can safeguard the users of the bike path take the necessary precautions to reduce the risk.
Thanks.
-Tom
