Description
Rampant red light running at this intersection; noticed most particularly in morning rush hour.
We pass through this intersection every day on our way to school, some days by car and others by bike. We have grown increasingly alarmed with the frequency of drivers running the red light while driving on State Street. We seriously cannot recall a morning in the past week + that when our light turned green (Elm to Grand) that at least one car, if not more, raced through on State.
I know that CT did not pass the Red Light bill but is there anything that the City of New Haven can do about ENFORCEMENT of our traffic signals, most particularly in heavily trafficked areas?

If only it were isolated to this one intersection.
However, this apparently acceptable form of law-breaking takes place at any intersection in New Haven that contains a traffic signal.
I've lived here 6 years and have never seen a police officer stop somebody for running a red-light. I suppose they're too busy with violent crime.

After it was clear I and all the cars -- including the police car -- drove ahead like no big deal. No siren. No tickets. No big deal.
Lesson one. From the Mayor on down, obviously nobody in city government cares if drivers violate traffic regulations. Lesson two: NEVER step into an intersection in New Haven just because you have a walk signal or green light without making sure even more cars aren't running the light.
I wish the city would take action. Not just on this but also on the trashy Green. But I've given up on all of it. New Haven is the city where nobody cares. A nice motto.
