This truck is now back again. I do not think it belongs to anyone in the neighborhood but is left and this side street used as permanent parking for a commercial utility vehicle. Is this something Codes allows? Another truck is used to drop a person off to get the larger commercial truck in the photo. The license for that truck is: CWJ 418 White Ford F150

What are the codes for street parking in a neighborhood? Can a large commercial vehicle stay parked on a street continually even though they do not live in the neighborhood but just use the area to keep their vehicle?

These folks come and go with another vehicle the CWJ 418 White Ford F 150 to get this one when they use it. SO, this tells me they are just using the area and have probably come from another area where they were previously doing this same thing. This street is very busy where they are now parking across from the Abbey Nursing Home and beside N. Branch Library. I would think this would be a violation that they are taking up this space used by Library patrons as well as those visiting the Nursing Home. Additionally, there are ambulances that are loading and unloading right there and with this huge truck/trailer there is massive congestion.

If they could, we wouldn't advise you to report the issue to the Police Department. Clearly it's a violation, and the Police have been alerted and asked to investigate. I have called the SPPD and asked them on 3 different ocassions to come and investigate. There is nothing done, and THUS The reason for my ASKING if it was a violation!! It would not seem to be with the response from the SPPD to this point!

How about a nice, friendly note left on the car windshield stating they are at risk of being towed? No one likes the "T" word.

Thank you for your SeeClickFix post dated October 24, 2014. Chief Holloway has asked me to respond directly to you regarding the commercial vehicle parked in the 800 block of 8th Street North. Community Service Officer Merritt responded to the area at various times on several occasions. Although he did not locate this particular vehicle, he did locate two abandoned vehicles in the same block. Both vehicles were tagged as abandoned and the owner provided 72 hours to move them. The vehicles were not moved and therefore towed as street storage. Community Service Officer Merritt will continue to monitor the area for this vehicle during his patrol time. In the meantime, I would encourage you to call the non-emergency line at 893-7780 to report this violation while it is occurring so that an officer can be dispatched to immediately resolve the issue. I will call because the vehicle is back from last night and also this morning. It stayed away for about a week and now back to parking on 8th street norht again or at the North Branch Library across from Abbey Rehabilitation.
