Thank you for reporting this issue to us via SeeClickFix St. Pete. While Homelessness is not illegal, the City addresses homelessness and related social issues City-wide by utilizing a two-tiered philosophy of service: Referral followed by enforcement.

Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team (PATH) that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. I understand homeless is not illegal and my main concern is not specifically with the homeless population but the fact that people come to this park and leave trash, broken glass, empty beer cans and bottles everywhere. These people use the bench as a place to smoke and deal drugs, potential prostitution at all hours of the day. My request was that the city look into posting a sign somewhere with hours of operations or maybe no alcohol signs or rules of the park signs, so that the park can close at dark or dissuade people from these types of activities. I see many parks around the city that have a simple sign stating general rules. Without any posted rules it is difficult to enforce these things. Thanks again,
