331 So Main Ave ALBANY, NY
The asphalt pavement is failing on our block. I work for an civil engineering firm and strongly suggest a major repair. The original granite curbing currently has a 2 inch reveal, where it should be 6 inches. This illustrates by comments that follow.
In the 20+ yrs we have lived here, additional lifts of asphalt have been placed over old asphalt.
The proper remedy for this city block (at least this block, probably others up to New Scotland Ave) would be to mill/remove 6 inches of existing crumbling asphalt, and replace with a 2 inch lift of top course asphalt.
This would re-establish our city street to the proper road cross section and the proper 6 inch curb reveal.
It is worth doing it correctly for long term cost savings vs repeated short term fixes and sub-par milling and replacing.
Thank you for listening. My concern is in the interest of our fine City!
