This is unacceptable this is what you call tax dollars hard at work stop patching this stuff and re pave the road. Also the community is aware that you can submit for reimbursement for damages but either A the city just lets people’s claims sit forever or just out right deny them no one has ever been provided funds for damages that’s a scam.

  • Sw 11th St & Sw Watson Ave Topeka, KS, 66604, USA - City of Topeka Council District 6
At the intersection of SW WATSON and SW 11TH ST there is a yield sign for 11th St. I love at 3125 SW 11th which is 3 houses east of the intersection. The intersection has low visibility for cross traffic, and I've seen several accidents at this intersection over the past year due to people either ignoring the yield sign, or not realizing there is traffic. I believe the issue can be remedied easily by replacing the yield sign with a stop sign. Yesterday I was walking with my infant son across the path when a car blow through the yield sign nearly striking the stroller. Traffic is generally exceeding the speed limit of 25mph (which is already too fast for this neighborhood). I think a stop sign would help drivers slow down in this area and allow them time to look both ways for cars and pedestrians. I would love to see sidewalks in the area as well. There is a park just past Oakley St in the same area, but there is no sidewalk. 11th St is very torn up, so pushing a stroller is unsafe, because my baby is shaken too much by the uneven, eroded street. My stroller even has shocks, but the road is so bad. I know Topeka has a lot of road problems, but I'm humbly submitting my road to be considered for a full replacement, or to simply add sidewalks from Gage St to Oakley St. My main concern today, however, is to switch the yield sign with a stop sign on SW 11th St and SW Watson St.
  • Sw Cochise Ave & Sw Eveningside Dr Topeka, KS, 66614, USA - City of Topeka Council District 7
What does it take to get a stop sign installed at this T intersection? Several cars fly down Cochise Ave turning this corner on nearly 2 wheels. Not to mention there is no Stop sign at Eveningside Dr & 35th St. Several kids live in this area I would hate to see someone get hurt.
  • Sw 3rd St & Sw Fillmore St Topeka, Kansas, 66606 - City of Topeka Council District 1

This is not really a street sign repair but a request to consider augmenting the sign that is there. Currently east/west has a stop sign. North/south moves freely from 1st to 4th. The east/west stop sign is run multiple times a day and is also 'California stopped' on a regular basis - where folks slow down and run through. I have witnessed near misses on a daily basis and I know there have been crashes. This has been made worse with 1st being closed and will only get worse when 1st is permanently closed.

North/South drivers often needlessly stop at the intersection because if you live in the neighborhood you exercise extra caution here because you expect east/west to run it. (Feel free to come and park on Fillmore and watch and see how often the sign is run.)

There is also the fact that, west bound, the stop sign is 15+ feet from the corner due to a sidewalk and a power pole, making it hard to see apparently.

I'd like to ask for a 'cross traffic does not stop' sign to be added to the east/west to see if that can clue some folks in to stop.

I know it won't solve everything but maybe it can alleviate some confusion because, as I've observed traffic, I think some east/west folks think they're at an all way stop, not a 2 way. Some will stop and then go, cutting off the north/south that have the right of way as if they expect those folks to also stop.

    Thanks

  • Se 33rd Ter & Se Virginia Ave Topeka, KS, 66605, USA - City of Topeka Council District 4
There is no "stop" or "yield" signs in my entire neighborhood at any of the four way stops. Please fix this. There has been to many close calls with accidents.
