"Zinn Drive, Oakland hills "Fire Trail" more a fire hazard than protection from fire.
On a recent walk on this trail which runs between Asilomar and Drake streets and connects two sections of Zinn Drive in the Oakland hills, I was horrified to see that at least 13 trees have fallen near to or above either side of the fire trail. Some of those close to the trail have been cut up , but all parts (trunks, small branches with leaves and larger branches ) were left behind, with some blocking a natural water drainage area & trail through the canyon area, creating a fire hazard rather than a fire prevention or fire fighting area. The upper portion of the fire trail off Asilomar has been so damaged by water runoff, that it would be impossible for a firetruck to pass down it and very difficult for a fireman with his equipment to walk down it. AC Transit management is requesting the City of Oakland trim back the tree in front of the Domino's Pizza. There are low hanging branches that don’t provide enough clearance for buses (as shown in the attached photo). A canopy height of 16 feet is needed to accommodate a double decker bus and eliminate critical safety issues.

On scoville street side of 1800 55th Ave- overgrown tree along sidewalk, weeds, damage to sidewalk from tree.

Many years ago, Nairobi Place included a pedestrian walkway that allowed people from the other side of Chimes Creek to access public transportation on Hillmont Drive. The walkway was abandoned decades ago. The remaining lot is completely overgrown with many dead and dying trees. There is high brush and plant debris everywhere. Recently, a large branch broke and collapsed onto my fence at 6251 Hillmont Drive. The OFD Is quick to issue citations to property owners for high grass, but the city has allowed the very dangerous fire hazard to fester untended for at least 25 years. Please help!
